Disable honking when stepping out while engine is running

Quick update as I did not see anything posted about JSCAN, but I recently traded in my 2020 JT for a 2023 JT Mojave and now I have the horn issue. JSCAN does have a fix as well, FYI

Don't know if an update fixed that or not, but tried it on my 2022 and it didn't matter a bit. Still honked. Doesn't matter for me, I was just testing the functionality, I never leave the vehicle running and take the fob and close the door anyway.

Ya better try it before you say it will do it, because it sure didn't change my 2022. Don't know if it was a 2022 thing, or they needed a fix via update to actually make it work

According to my research, if two people get into a vehicle and go back to honking the horn to have a key fob, the person with the fob gets out of the vehicle and doesn't turn off the engine, while the other person can drive away until they turn off the engine, then they can't start the vehicle unless they have a key fob, but a message also tells you that the key fob has left the vehicle

Why does it have to be 2 people getting in? Someone can step in later..........if you do not lock it. it's happened. There's been warnings from the police around here where people start a vehicle, leave said vehicle running and door not locked, someone gets in......

Yup, you are right... it did not fix the issue. I will contact JSCAN

this issue irked me for the first few months i had my jeep... then i remembered i lived in north dakota and started tossing the keyfob in the flip-open console between driver/passenger seat and only pulling it back out when i have my jeep safely locked up in my garage for the day...

I’m interested in what vehicles have this. I have a 2021 rubicon, and have never had this happen. I relatively often leave it running, with it locked within my view. The horn never beeps. The interior will beep softly if the key fob is removed and it’s running, but that’s it.

Two honks? It's three if you leave the vehicle running and take the FOB with you and close the door.
Are you talking the two honks when you lock a door or something like that?

When you start a jeep, leave said Jeep - running (the Jeep, not you) and take the fob with you and CLOSE the door as you leave (well, after you leave the Jeep)
There will be 3 quick HONKS.

If you have only 2 - you are lucky!
But I am wondering - since you mentioned passive entry, if you are meaning the honks when you lock it and that is configurable in the settings in the radio.

I'm saying seems most people above say they get 2 honks , I'm saying when I leave the vehicle running go in the house to retrieve something I forgot after two steps with fob in pocket 3 loud HONKS go off. 2021 JTO most writings above seem to be speaking of only 2??

Parden, just adding to confusion! Seems all this trouble comes from folks putting thier Jeeps away with engines running inside a garage1 SAFETY is the reason! Manufactures think we can't take care of ourselves! Maybe they are correct!!!

Just like what was said above. I have a 2023 and I get three LOUD honks if I leave the vehicle(with the keys on me), and close the door.
If I leave the door open, it doesn't honk. I can walk away as far as I want.

Nope, I get honked at and I have the smaller radio in my sport.

I think this was added around the time of the TPMS change in June of '21. I like that my '20 Overland doesn't do this. The FOB only leaves my pocket to unlock the gas cap. I frequently leave it running while doing errands. My 2013 Nissan Leaf does this, but the horn is not loud.

Mine is a ‘21 that I think was built in 9/20, so that would make sense. Thanks.

My usual winter routine is to unlock my Jeep as I am walking toward it, put the key back in my pocket, get in, start the engine, start the defrost, get the ice scraper, get out, shut the door so as to not let out the heat, then scrape windows. Honking of the horn is not an appreciated feature. My wish is that it had a wider range so I'd have to be actually walking away before it honks.
