Entire family drives jeeps since the 70s . 9 jeeps currently. None of us will switch to electric . My end of days vehicle is going to be completely analog .

Or cold weather.I look at the reality of this whole debate… EV for off-road is fun, but towing, hauling and all the other stuff that comes along with our needs just hasn’t been figured out.
They need to pull in the dealerships off of their crazy pricing. We were looking at a plug in hybrid to replace me wifes car. The prices on some of them would have been affordable until the dealerships tacked on their $20K additional charges. By the time we were done shopping around she had enough and just said to hell with it I am just going to keep my carFully agree on pure BEVs. That's where phevs and fuel cells are the other 2 technologies that will carry where bev doesn't work. I don't see all of us driving pure BEVs, they're great at what they're great at, but they have limitations. Phevs and fuel cells though carry most of the advantages of a BEV but with out a lot of limitations (well hydrogen infrastructure still sucks but that could be built out fairly easily like building more gas stations). I'm not interested in a BEV, but PHEV would suit my needs just fine as to me I see it as a power adder first.
Also Tesla reported their new battery plant is bringing costs so far down a 25k stripper ev is now realistic and the model 3 is trending similar to average car values. As more manufacturers get in on this and battery costs continue to come down the tipping point for PHEV/bev/fuel cell is coming closer and closer imo. Once they can swap the 15 year old batteries for sub 10k it will be really hard to argue against them for 90% of people's needs.
Agreed. You still got it? I'd read it.
If he's got a Tesla there is a high chance he is nickel and cobalt free since over 50% of their sales are lfp batteries. Which...are you ready....means its less than your cell phone ?I don't act like that at all, but perhaps you should get your head out of your ass and understand that a cellular phone has become a necessity in life, and has... are you ready... only a fraction of the mineral content of an electric vehicle battery. So go hug your Tesla and shut the hell up.
Good call. Definitely needs to be something Really Manly so the Real American Man knows it was built specifically for them. Like Long Horn or Big Horn or something equally as homoerotic.I always wonder if they just called it an electric power adder or ultra charger or something and deleted the ev button would people instead think it's the best thing since sliced bread since it turns the 2.0 into a V8 with diesel city mpgs.
Looks like his post was removed...and no I don't own a Tesla but if they came out with a hybrid Gladiator that wasnt WAY overpriced and helped get better gas mileagei would consider it. Talk about striking a nerve lol Someone's off their meds...If he's got a Tesla there is a high chance he is nickel and cobalt free since over 50% of their sales are lfp batteries. How does a conversation about vehicle propulsion turn into a conversation about smoking D?Good call. Definitely needs to be something Really Manly so the Real American Man knows it was built specifically for them. Like Long Horn or Big Horn or something equally as homoerotic.
I would propose "The Power Bottom" or "The Brokeback"... that would give a clear indication of what it's packing and surely get their Real Manly American Juices flowing.
Wait till you see what it does to the economy!this push for electric is really not going to do well for a lot of people.
No blasting from me, I would buy you a beer though!Paper vs plastic. We were told if you wanted a paper bag you were bad cause you were killing trees. Go plastic! Big petro made a lot of money creating all kinds of one time use plastics. Now, you pay .08 cents a plastic bag cause the impact on the earth. It is a way to discourage using plastic. All of a sudden we are using paper straws as they are biodegradable and recycled.
So, here we are again. ICE versus EV. The dirty truth is the raw resources required are devastating to the planet and people to get. Perhaps even worse than drilling. You will not be able to build the EV without petro (plastic, paint ect.) anyways so forget about the day where there is no drilling for oil at least in the near future.
The factor in the demand for the electricity to charge. Do people really believe there will be green energy to support the demand that doesn't come without an bigger environmental cost? Wind farms and solar fields are not exactly environmentally friendly.
Finally, disposal of millions of car batteries? That is an environmental disaster that will happen just like the floating island of plastic in the Pacific ocean or the microplastics in our food now.
So, yeah, in summary bring on the EV and feel good about your virtue signaling at the stop light while the Tesla next to you goes up in flames.
A lot of good info on this forum but hyping the EV is not a positive thing I see in the forum. Go ahead and blast me away now for being contrarian.
Every single person I know that has a Tesla loves it but hates the charging issue. They're stupidly fast, even in non-Plaid versions. Road trips take serious planning and more time due to charger availability.Spoke to a Tesla owner last year when I drove my kid to college, VA to FL. The dude had been waiting in line to charge his Tesla for over 8 hours! Had to wait in line first, then charge to continue. Hell no, his trip went from 2 days, to almost 4 by the time he charged!
