I'm getting the EOC stage 1 tune. There are three options for the tune and one for DEF on/off. I'm looking for feedback on your experience with an EOC stage 1 tune. Which one did you get, how does it perform, is fuel consumption better or worse, would you do it again, etc. Your feedback is appreciated.

Econo (optimized stock, 20hp 30tq)
Towing (30hp 50tq)
Street (50hp, 80tq, NOT recommended for towing)

What happens when DEF is turned off? Do I have to modify the system in any way?

Haven’t tuned the ecodiesel but the def on off to me would be for a delete. Tunes from a good tuner are usually pretty open to calls- might give them a shout and talk about a few things.
If you are going for a delete ??? if you aren’t, I would ask a few questions about the EGR settings, can they shut off the egr pickup pre dpf, and retain the second. Can they shut off the manifold differential pressure sensor (probably the wrong name but they will understand by description….) to gain benefits from an intake and to allow for a catch can to be installed.

Does this tuner offer a transmission tune?? That would be the best bang for the buck seeming how the power is super chopped in 1-3 gears :|

Just go full stage 2. Stage 1 isn’t doing a lot.

The EOC website also lists an option for EGR off, but I don't know if any other mods are needed. I asked all these questions by email but no reply yet. No luck getting them on the phone. Thx!

Still curious of others' experience with EOC stage 1.

I did, sorry for not following up. They have my PCM now, waiting to hear from them.
Here are my questions and EOC's reply:

TO EOC:
What do these options mean?
1 - Egr on or off. I would like to reduce soot contaminating the oil, but I don't want to make any modifications.
2 - Def fluid can be turned off for an added fee. Do I have to modify anything to do this? Does the DEF stay in the tank? Do I empty it? I've heard replacing with distilled water, but what does that do?

On the three HP options, please help me decide. I'm an overlander, so I do highway and offroad mixed, no towing.
-Are there any pros/cons to the different HP options I need to be aware of? Such as...
-Would the 50hp tune be harder on the engine?
-Does one option improve fuel mileage better than the others?
-Do you offer the option to switch between tunes?
-Is there an option to do engine braking?
-Is there an option to show Regen message?
-Can I initiate a forced regen, if that's even needed?
-What is Multi Map tune?

FROM EOC:
We can create a tune with the egr turned off (default) or we can leave it on.

If you turn def fluid off and plan on going back to stock at anytime, then you must drain the def fluid and add a gallon of distilled water in its place while tuned. Then before going to stock, you would drain the water and add fresh def.

It is just performance levels. They are all the same other than 10-20whp differences. Any of the files will work for the driving you are doing.

The engine can handle far more than 50whp, our stage 2 tuning goes up to 80whp and we can push it even further than that in a race setting.

All tune files can achieve good fuel economy, fuel economy isn't dependent on a tune file. Many factors will affect your specific vehicles returned fuel economy.

Your vehicle is not able to have our multi map SOTF tuning. This is why we did not quote it.

All tuning comes with autonomous turbo braking and autonomous high idle.

Regen message happens as it normally does. As a diesel owner, you should be running an info monitor that shows you your DPFs fill capacity and regen modes.

Regens can be done the same way as they are stock.

Thanks! I'm not greatly impressed with their communications either. PCM is shipping now, so we'll see how it performs. Glad I got DEF and EGR off options. Thanks for the post!
I will 100% agree their communication is rather poor, not quite sure why tbh. But their product is top tier and they stand by their stuff.

Just an FYI for everyone who's looking to deal with EOC. Any time I've had to deal with them, they pretty much respond 7 days later on the dot. So just pad that into your timeline.

Otherwise, they really are a top-notch tuner to deal with. They know their stuff, especially with the EcoDiesels. They're by far the most recommended tuner for EcoDiesels. Slow communication? Definitely... but they explain everything in detail, and anyone I know who has had issues with their products has made them whole.

This is my 2nd EcoDiesel I'll be having them tune, my RAM EcoDiesel runs flawlessly with their Stage 2.

Got the Stage 1 and trans tune installed last week. Wanted to give a review. Throttle response is greatly improved, but it has a tendency to "jump" off the line. I'm sure I'll get used to the touchy throttle with time. The extra 50hp is not really noticeable, but my rig is heavy and I'm soft on the pedal. The trans tune is great. I now have engine braking. It's nothing like my old RAM that you can turn on and off, but it is noticeable. I haven't towed, so maybe it'll be more noticeable then. Mileage went from 16/17 to 18/19, even got 21 once. Overall I'm pleased.

I searched all over for best way to swap the PCM and really didn't find anything, so here is what I did. Remove the 3 bolts that hold the bracket. There are multiple cable ties that attach to it and one that I couldn't remove, but I was able to pull the assembly up enough to remove the 4 bolts that hold the PCM to the bracket. It's a PITA to get the PCM off the studs. There is barely enough clearance between the battery and fuse box, but it's doable. To install the 2 bolts at the bottom of the bracket, I used one of those 4 claw pickup tools. Put the bolt in the claws and lowered it down and into the bracket/hole, gave a couple turns to catch threads, then tightened with a ratchet. Whole job took 15 minutes.
