It's almost like there are other countries that have different laws that manufacturers have to abide by.
I could be a smart ass and say "ya THINK??" - but I won't. I know you were being, well....... captain obvious ;-)

If I was being a smart ass, and you would be a smart ass, wouldn't we cancel each other out?

I suppose so, hadn't thought of it that way. Cool.

Has anyone 'imported' a RHD model to the US? Can we order RHD models? My grandpa used to have a RHD for his rural mail route back in the day. I always liked driving that thing, just because it was different. Call me a sucker for being willing to exchange money for nostalgia.

But I do like the tail lights.
The mirrors are different too.... and why do they have the front tow hooks not exposed?
Those are modified taillights from the American version with the safety package.

The wrangler is available as a RHD. The gladiator doesn't show it but I feel like if you knew who to talk to you could do it.

The RHD Wranglers come with the turbo 4 and select trac auto, steel wheels, hard top and the only option pack is cold weather. Sounds like a mail carrier special. But you can get any color they offer which is interesting.

Jeeeeze, I HATE right hand drive on left hand drive streets! I had to borrow an old Rolls a couple of times, it was a giant PITA to drive around town let alone on the freeway. Want to pass a UPS truck? GOOD LUCK!

My ex FIL finally gave up on the beast, it did have a helluva smooth ride.

Loved my RHD Jeep (the TJ), probably the most fun to drive vehicle I’ve owned. There was a carrier at the local office that had a Gecko Rubicon JKU, I had no idea that was even an option as a custom order.

I feel like a RHD JT with a cap would be great for rural carriers. I would think it would offer more room than a JLU. Maybe a bit more of an inconvenience reaching to the back of the bed I guess.

So... I spent a lot of time on the LIE today with a gator rubicon and got to thinking about the reflectors on the US spec models.

As we can see on this elsewhere bound white truck, for european and oceania models I assume the rear fog lamp would correspond to driver side per somewhat EU standards.

If this is the case then presumably there is a rear fog lamp for europe AND an opposite side for oceania. My local deal parts guys are not imaginative or creative and they only look based on VIN. They are not in any way interested in exploration and discovery.

So who happens to know about these rear fogs and perhaps the marker repeaters on the mirrors. And before everyone dog piles, no I'm not recommending driving around with your fog lamps on is broad daylight any more than I'm advocating that we should all have our high beams and/or bar lamps and cube lamps blazing in traffic. I HATE those people and love, Love, LOVE turning on all 100+k lumens at them... ninja please! I do however like being able to have increased conditions specific position indication lamps when needed.

For fuel economy as a likely top of the list reason (yes, it makes a difference), but also possibly this (pic below) - in my case driving in the winter in certain conditions what you see on the top of my original bumper actually blew back onto the windshield. Not a soul in front of me for at least half a mile and my own wheels where throwing things forward and then it blew back against the front glass.
This is absolutely not the worst example I've got pics of. When your own wheels throw stuff onto your windshield on the HIGHWAY, no less, I can see why it may be necessary to close that gap in SOME countries. (that and economy because it matters. Look at how semi tractors and trailers divert air from the fronts of the tires)

Other countries have had more strict (safer and saner) lighting rules than the US for decades. We've always been behind as a country because we are a country of "how dare you tell me what to do, if I want to kill someone with my mods, I will".

I watched a small rock get launched forward from my driver's front tire, curve upward in the wind, and land in the pocket by the drivers wiper. I would not have believed it, had I not seen it with my own eyes, but i did. So yes, I agree those guards are there for a reason.

I drove a RHD Mitsubishi Delica for a little while. Loved it! And being a manual trans, it made it even more interesting.

I saw a Wrangler sport S at the dealership today with those guards on it. So in some configuration, they are here in the US too.
