Thank you, I've never had a problem with the dealership in getting warranty work so far! I will give a heads up if I run into any issues, the tick has now become intermittent so It will probably be hard to diagnose until it becomes sustained again.

If you really drive a lot, the 7 year unlimited plans make a lot of sense.

I just purchased my Rubicon last week and of course, when it was my turn to speak with the finance guy he was pushing for the 10year/100,000mi extended warranty. The lowest I was able to negotiate the extended warranty was for $2,000. Just when I was about to sign, I decided to call my insurance company, Geico. I inquired about their extended warranty, or Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI) policy. Geico's MBI mirrors Jeep's original 3 years/36,000mi warranty and extends it out to 7 years / 100,000mi for a whopping $10 extra / month, or $840.

I naturally did not accept Jeeps terms and am going to with Geico soon.
Another nice thing about MBI is that GEICO doesn’t care about mods. That, and I just learned that if you break your windshield its only a $50 deductible if you have the MBI. I now have it on my of my Jeeps.

Huh, I didn't understand the glass coverage, my insurance covers glass with zero deductable, and it's considered comprehensive so it doesn't change the dates. Trust me they bought 3 windshields for my JK

Its definitely a gamble. Main factors to consider, how the vehicle will be used, how long you intend to keep it past the original bumper to bumper warranty. I got the warranty on the tires only, and have already had one replaced. Look at the fine print as well. Personally I'm not a fan of the extra warranty on a new vehicle, but thats me. To much fine print and exclusions on the extended warranty's I've seen. But I've had friends that swear by them, typically on used vehicles. Good luck

The only way to get the fine print is to get the contract which means you need to be to the point of signing on the dotted line. I was able to get a sample contract from 2018 that is a 7/100k coverage. But things shouldn't have changed that much

As you can see, there is clear language throughout that items failing due to use are not covered. They will cover them if it is determined that the part failed due to a factory defect and was not in existence prior to the policy starting. So that means you're still paying for regular tune ups and care, replacing valves, seals, fluids, etc as stated by the maintenance schedule. I was told I could get one at the 3yr/36k mile mark, so I'll do that and risk there being some "pre-existing condition". My Geico MBI has been in effect since day 1 of the vehicle being mine and that will remain. The extended coverage from FCA is the first line of fixing problems as they arise.

But, there are numerous warranty companies with varying degrees of customer satisfaction. the dealership typically makes 50% of the sales price of the warranty as I found out both from being a sales person being pressured to sell warranty's and when I was lied to about the sales price of the extended warranty from the dealer on my JT. When I cashed it in within the 30 day buyers remorse clause, half came from the dealer and the other half from the Warranty company. I was quoted the price for the tire and wheel warranty and it was quite different from the Bumper to Bumper warranty price I was billed for, and it didn't really cover anything more than the manufacturers warranty, it just went a little longer.I will not have this truck past the original warranty from the FCA jeep. But once again, thats me. Some people love them and use them, My JT sits in the garage until its time to play. No walmart grocery store, or town trips and definitely no mall krawling,,,,,,ever. I'l probably put 5k miles on it a year. At the end of 5 years, I'll get a new truck or car to replace it. I'll see where the market is and the newest technology is. Good luck.

Who ever buys it will be lucky. 5 years and low mileage, depending on your asking price at the time I’d be saying “damn, shame he’s so far away”

did some quotes via the chryslerwarrantys.com website... any chances the dealer lowballs the number to get me to buy today? I'll find out in a couple of hours, just curious ahead of time what to expect here

just made it a moot point, went with a 10yr/100k bumper to bumper extended warranty for about $1500
