My first experience with this issue today. Remote started in the morning, it was 15 degrees outside. Met up with my Gladiator Group for some off roading. Got started on the trail and the outside temp was 19. Several stops and starts later my outside temp still read 19 degrees, although outside temp had risen. Heated seats and steering wheel would activate each time. As day got warmer, outside temp displayed raised a little to 24 degrees but was actually 43. Heated seats and steering wheel kept activating. As temp continued to rise and dust picked up on the trail, I put up the windows and turned on the AC…however the AC would not turn on. Coldest it I could get was outside temp with outside air ā€œopenā€. Eventually the outside temp displayed started working and matched the true outside temp. Them the AC started working as well. After reading this thread, it seems the temp display sticking is an issue, but have any of you noticed it disables the AC as well? Having to keep turning off the heated seats and steering wheel was a pain as well. Actually broke off from the group early to head home just in case some wired gremlins would put me in limp mode or something…

Im running into the same problem 2021 high altitude gladiator got off work remote started the Jeep for 10 mins went out to the Jeep and the heated seats and steering wheel wasn’t on. Temp was 33 but the Jeep was saying 46 until I drove down the road for 2 miles then it corrected itself. Has anyone actually went to the dealership? I’m going in this week
Update they replaced the sensor and it worked flawlessly for 3 days and it’s back to doing the same thing again. Being outside for 8 hours temp outside is 30 but Jeep is saying 59 and cold weather package not working. I have had jeeps before library, renegade both had cold weather package and when I remote started them they would work like they are suppose too.

Mine works as it should, most of the time. Occasionally, it is off at startup, but corrects itself after a few minutes of driving. It seems to be incorrect more during low temperatures. In the summer it usually reads too high, but corrects after air starts flowing over the sensor.

I've decided the temperature display on the dash is fine, it's the outside temperature that's too cold.
Move to CA is 80 here. Or or just don't be a sissy you do drive a jeep after all...

I'm late to this party but I have experienced something similar yet different. I've not had the issue with the sensor not reading correctly at start-up and heated accessories not coming on; that seems to work well enough that i've never noticed it.

WHAT I HAVE NOTICED is that when I go out wheeling the temperature never changes until I turn off the ignition and turn it back on. So as an example, I get to the trailhead, air down, etc. and when I start heading down the trail, the OAT is reading, say, 64F. 2 hours later, with the sun up now, it is still reading 64F. I then stop and turn off the engine (while I take a picture, water the plants, have a nosh, whatever) and when I start it back up again, it reads 73F (where it will stay until I turn the ignition off again). To make it even wierder, it only seems to do this in 4WD (Hi or Lo). Seems to work fine when tooling around down or extended drives on the highway in 2WD.

I didn't even realize it until my wheeling buddy called me over the CB when we were out on a trail and asked if mine did the same thing...he noticed it happens with his Wrangler. I own two JKUR's in addition to my JTR and so I started watching how they act and have noticed the temperature readout on the 2 JKUR's do the SAME THING.

Honestly, it makes no difference to me that it happens because it's a minor curiosity at this point, but having read through this thread, I wonder if there is a bug with the software in the Jeep computers that is responsible for all of this...

Ah, kids today..........wait until you are 65 with arthritis, Reynaud's, back and hands damaged from decades of heavy lifting and mechanic work ;)
- it's why I devised a lift to easily and almost effortlessly lift the top off my JT.

Hey, my son is the one who moved to Florida, not me! LOL

You should have that looked at.

My Grand Cherokee and Power Wagon Wagon does this too. Think they all do it. My PW has to go over 20 mph to reset the temp.

This seems to be a corporate problem that has been around for at least 15 years. My ā€˜09 JK does this and you have to get above 40-45 mph before it wakes up and corrects the reading. My new ā€˜23 Gladiator does the exact same thing, but it’s a bigger PITA because when it’s reading 18 degrees and it’s actually 60 the bloody heated seats are turned on courtesy of the same technology.

Sounds like it's software. I wonder if this is something an update to the Tazer might address in the future?
