How did you remove the entire assembly from the Jeep?
Take off the rear fender and fender liner for access, there are some fasteners on the back side, it was pretty obvious how to remove it once I could see it.

So I finally finished this today....apparently I was grabbing too much of the tube and insert with the large channel locks and broke the lip on the one from the factory 2 weeks ago. I am pretty much all thumbs at times and am a little rough on getting things apart ( I was a Soldier for 30+ years....guaranteed that if someone says it is unbreakable...we can break it).

Ordered the wrangler one listed in here from BAM...got here yesterday. since it is like half the JT price.... used dremel to make the plastic tabs lower thru the slots before removing from tube.

I pried old one out and put new insert in and it looks good. Plus when I went to fuel up the tank the EDT went in the tank vs down the side of the discriminator/sat there and dripped over the edge around the filler like the last few tank fill-ups.

Just did this on my '23 using the wire stripper pliers method. Less than 5 minutes most of which was getting the 2 halves apart

Just to add my 2 cents here - I tried the channel lock method first, made very little headway, and boogered up the rim of the nozzle a bit before giving up. I then tried the wire stripper method, which worked beautifully because you can get leverage with the stripper tool against the tabs that the cap locks into - no slippage, no damage, and it came right out. Afterwards pulling out the discriminator was simple with a flathead screwdriver and the assembly in a vise. I cleaned up the boogered up rim with some sandpaper and reinstalled the neck.

For anyone that hasn't done this yet -- skip the channel lock method and go straight to the wire strippers/internal wrenching method. That's the ticket.

When filling up. Does anyone notice on how much foam there is in the filler neck? I can add another 3 gallons after the nozzle clicks off if I take my time and put it in slowly. There is no evap canister to worry about with the diesel. That's why I fill it to the brim.

30-40 seconds wait after it clicks then I hold it lightly with my hand. Seems like I can get about 2 gallons more in mine.

Next time I fill up will be Into a 25 gallon fuel cell instead so it’ll be interesting to see if its a filler neck, tank shape or another reason for it to be foamy. I dont notice the same thing on my big trucks

I get 3+. I’ll put it in the letter run until it clicks then I’ll put my shoulder on the sea pillar and just generally rock it back-and-forth and then hold the pump for a real low flow and it keeps them from foaming quite a bit and I burp the tank to touch.

My F250 work truck. When it clicks off. It's full to the cap. No foam.

It must have something to do with the angles and vents... My OBS 7.3 would foam like that. More on the rear tank than the front tank which I always thought was a little strange. figured it had to be the bends causing one to be more so than the other. In my experience, diesel foams more when it hits something and splashes at a higher rate of speed than slower. So maybe there needs to be more bends in the neck to slow the flow down?

My work truck is a 2012 with 260,000 miles on it. I might be the 8th or 9th driver of it.

I always add 2.5-3 more gallons after it clicks off when I can fuel up for the best price. I have to fill slowly like everyone else has said already. Also, the fuel gauge stays at full a lot longer 😋.

Diesel fuel foams. I can fill up my tractor, that has a 3" or so fill pipe that is cast into tank and also has a vent hose running from the top of the tank to the fill pipe, and it foams up. It probably only takes another quart or so of fuel while kicking off three times, but, it's diesel, it's gonna foam.
