Holy shit! Sorry to see this- everyone is safe, I hope? Will be curious to hear the source of the fire.

I was by myself and I'm safe. It happened in front of a school just as it let out. Luckily there was a Cop near by that was able to control the children.

When I opened the hood. Some wiring was burning just below the fuse box next to the secondary battery.

I'm going to give all my after market electrical a good once... twice... three times over this weekend.

It happened a week ago. I've had time to pull myself together.

The wiring the dealer just touched. They're definitely at fault.

I took my beloved Gladiator into the dealer to have the start-stop feature fixed. The dealer in Clovis California said that the issue was that both batteries tested bad. They replaced both and kept it overnight. I picked it up the next day and on the way home all hell happened!

He would have needed insulated bolt cutters to stop this. Short would stay hot and arcing until cut. But yeah carry an extinguisher!

Sorry for your loss but very glad everyone is unhurt. You can replace your Jeep but not people.

Glad you got out safe. IMO, an extinguisher should only be used if your or someone else's life is in danger. Once everyone is safe, let it burn. The exception would be a rare collector car.

Should each service repair just automatically come with a complimentary fire extinguisher? Don’t they know there is a vehicle shortage?

Sorry this happened. Ain't my truck but my heart sank thinking how I'd feel if it were mine. Major bummer.

They need to get rid of this 2 battery bs system. What was wrong with just using 1 battery? What's next? 3 batteries???? And to replace the 3rd one you probably will need to drop the transmission. Glad no one was injured, this reminds me to make sure everything on my jeep is insured now....
