First mods?

Starting off I would recommend some basics:

• side pockets on the center console, super handy
• Center console tray
• Rollup bed cover (if you like cheap covered storage for the bed)
• Sunshade (driving with the top off is awesome until the sun tries to kill you like in Super Mario Bros 3)

Then some nice things

• Hood struts (I can't stand the hood prop)
• Rhino liner (or equivalent bed liner)

If just starting with some light offloading I hightly recommend:

• Hitch guard/slider (I've dragged the back end on the hitch a few times, this will save it from getting banged up.
• Rear lower control arm skids (this is probably the first off-road item I would recommend)

Hi all, I'm close to buying my gladiator. Im leaning towards the Rubicon.

It has all I'd ever need for my purpose and more.

What are the first mods I need to look at.

Cold Air intake?
Oil filter upgrade to stop dry starts?

There's many other mods in looking at but what are THE most important to start?

I have a Mojave and now live near to the beach, so the factory rock sliders were of no use … however a sturdy set of side steps or boards are a better fit. As far as a cold air intake goes I wouldn’t bother… the factory has probably squeezed out what they can out of the 3.6 . Weigh things out before spending

Two of the best things I've done! I don't do big rocks and have a 4'10" wife so side steps were a priority. And it might not help but a fresh air intake sounds great and is less $ than a lift! Oh, and a winch, even with a rubber bumper.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to play devil's advocate here. I don't see the use of this, especially if you're watching your costs.

Someone could spend $99 and get this device, or someone could just remember the following every time you get in the Jeep.

Press a button (start), then press a 2nd button (autostart off). Your hand is already there, so it's just a matter of moving your hand a few inches and pushing the second button.

With the right codes/coupons, that $99 you just saved is most of the cost for a Motohorn 3.0...

I bought a Mojave specifically because it came with pretty much everything I needed or wanted.

My first mods were super mild, and a winch bumper right off the bat.

After a few months, I regeared to 4.88, didn't really change towing much.

After a couple years, my wife quit daily driving it, I lifted it 2", put 37's on, and 5.13 gears.

But, honestly, my stage 1 stock Mojave with just the winch bumper went literally anywhere any sane person would drive a 48k vehicle they have to take to work on Monday morning.

Here in central NM, we don't have roads with BIG rocks or ledges. My stock Overlander has taken me over anything I've found and never drug my steps. IF I were in AZ, NV or CO, I would just stay off the 'rough' roads. Also, I don't see why folks put heavy Winch Bumpers on with no winch. But just my opinion and not a flame. I also like not having to push that button every time I start the engine. Again, my opinion and my $$.

Drive it. Do all the things with it that you plan on doing with it, first. Build it for your needs, not to prepare it against future needs/problems/situations.

Make it useful (and comfortable) from the drivers' seat outward.

You don't need big, flashy parts to make it exactly the Jeep you want it to be. Start small, make it comfortable, then small project by small project, build it into what you want.

One thing at a time.

First thing I added was grab handles -- stock loops don't do much. Went with the GP-Grip AIR since the roll bar's got the airbag routing on the new ones. Everything else can wait.
