First oil change

Jesus h Christ I’m on track to no hit my first oil change until around 15k! This can’t be right... damn dashboard gives me anxiety every time I look at it....

Dealer told me every 6 months or 5K miles for life.

That's not what he is asking. He is talking about the oil life monitor.

Typically if you drive mellow and it is not extremely hot out it will go about 10k miles until it tells you it's time.

Now, oil is cheap and I'm am old soul. So I did what azrob says and I changed around 5k.

Oil would likely be good to 10k based on testing I've seen others do. But, at 25 bucks I'll over do it.

Plus it gets me out in the garage with a beer. So......

Going by my oil monitor I went 8,000 miles. I will be sure to get all 4 of my free oil changes.

I planned on going sooner, but it was six months and about 6k miles for the first two changes, which were paid for by the dealer. I'm doing every three months now to use up my Jeep Wave changes before they expire.

The Owner's Manual says not to exceed 12 months or 10k miles between changes.

Since we get for free oil changes with the jeep wave program well at least on 2020 models I will go in every six months no matter what the mileage is to use all four of the oil changes and to get my tires rotated after that the manual states every 10,000 miles

Just watch dealers... it’s been a problem since 2018 . The JL 3.6 has a different capacity than the JL or JT 3.6 ... make sure they don’t overfille.

The owners manual is pretty explicit to not exceed 10K miles regardless.

That being said, has anybody had their OLM go past 10K with still a percentage left showing and no reminder? I do a 5K OCI that is pretty close to 50% every time at changing.

I have had other vehicle were the OLM seems to drag out in counting down oil life early on and then catch up pretty quick towards the mileage interval at the end.

My dealer will give free oil changes for as long as I own the truck as long as I do it every 5000 miles, and with it I get a 100k engine warranty. They charge $20 for a tire rotation at that time which is annoying because I can do that myself for free, but overall it pays off nicely. I'll see how long I can ride that out

I got 10 free oil changes to use in 3yrs so I'll be doing mine every 5,000 miles which I'll be at 15,000 miles by the middle of next month in 9 months of ownership, that will leave me 1 more jeep wave oil change and then 6 that the dealership offers for free.

I change my oil every 5k. I ignore the oil life indicator....don't trust it...since I have no idea how it comes up with its value.
