I use a zip tie to keep them from coming loose and dropping on the trail..., I've found 2 so far!
20 + years hanging off the bumper of my cj never had one "disappear".....
And the zip tie is easy to cut when you need the shackle..

Lighten up Francis. I was trying to bring a little levity to the situation.
With the the number of times I have seen people seriously post your kind of comment on gun, woodworking, and Jeep forums, nothing surprises me these days.

Interestingly enough, I’ve had someone vandalize my Christmas decorations. Yanked half my lights right off the house. Ripped the plug clean off one of the strands. Not cheap lights either.

AND… I too lost one of my front shackles just this last week. I was sure someone had taken it. My son suggested that we may have lost it off-road the day before. He made the point that if someone had stolen it, they’d have taken both of them. He may be right. I hope he’s right. Replacements were ordered 2 mins after I noticed it was gone.
Vandalizing Christmas decorations? Do you live in Whoville? 😂

I installed these from Amazon. Special tool included that is needed to remove.

Heres what the Amazon ad says........
  • NO MORE LOST OR STOLEN SHACKLES! - Every GearAmerica UBER Shackles comes with our Patent Pending UBERLockTM AntiTheft technology. This security pin feature ensures that your cool new shackles will not get stolen or accidentally fall off due to driving and vibration. Unlike other security pins on the market, the UBERLockTM pin portion can be easily removed before offroading while keeping the standard ⅞” pin to easily connect or disconnect your Tow Strap or Recovery Rope when needed.
They come in different colors too.

Yeah,.... guess I think humankind is better than it actually is .......
Humankind IS good but as I always say, The world is NOT full of assholes, they're just arranged so you encounter one every day! Sorry about the theft.

So you sit on the hood of your truck all the time with your handgun at the ready? Otherwise your comments makes no sense.
Some guys are just horny to talk about their guns, have a reason to shoot their guns, etc.

My boss used to take one of his German Shepherds with him when he went on wrecker calls at night (sometimes during the day, too). No one ever bothered him or tried to get into the wrecker.
His dogs were as talented and nice and easy going - until he said the word or someone approached him with a hand raised.

I travel with the Dog and/or Wifey the Red(Head). A wise thief would have a better chance with Vince and he gives no warning growl.

I try not to leave stuff hanging off my Jeep, that said I do have some sand ladders BOLTED down on top of my GFC camper. If I need them it's a pain to remove but it's a pain for a theif. I try to keep everything locked inside, and out of sight. I've been ripped more times at a trail head or or remote areas then a parking lot, but maybe it's because I've spent more time there. I try not to have any gear hanging on the outside, it's like advertising.

^^^THIS^^^

The zip tie won't stop a determined thief, but not much will.

But it will reduce the crime of opportunity types in the store parking lot. They can't just casually give it a few twists and pocket it.

I was going to say, every Clevis I've had since I can recall has a hole in the tab for a screwdriver and excessive torque. Haven't lost one in 20 years.

We undercoated ours so as not to show ... then cranked the bolt down tight.. very tight..
