Driving 40 mph through town, hit a slight bump crossing bridge & tire started eating the plastic wheel well. I caught fast, pull over, pushed it back into place.

It wouldn't hurt anything to take them out, unless you are going mudding then you might want to rivet them in temporarily.

New Safety Recall Advanced Communication – UB2
FCA US LLC (FCA US) has announced a safety recall on certain 2017 and 2018 model
year (BU) Jeep® Renegade vehicles equipped with a 2.4L engine and Flex Fuel option.
VINs identified as being involved in this campaign are currently live and searchable.
Stop sale is in effect for the above-identified vehicles.
Vehicles impacted by a stop sale are eligible for reimbursement allowance through the
Recall Floorplan Reimbursement Policy (RFPRP), which can be requested upon recall
claim submission.
REASON FOR THIS SAFETY RECALL
Some of the above vehicles may have been built with a fuel pump module which may
experience cavitation, this condition will cause loss of fuel pressure under certain
environmental conditions while using standard 10% Ethanol (E10) fuel. In some cases,
an engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate, and the engine may operate
roughly, hesitate and/or experience reduced engine power. A loss of fuel pressure
may lead to an engine stall resulting in a sudden loss of motive power, which may
cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
SERVICE ACTION
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall to replace the fuel pump module. Dealers
will be notified of the launch of this safety recall by way of established communication
methods. This recall is estimated to launch in 4th Quarter of 2018.

We ask that you please take the time to ensure that your personnel are aware of this
communication and are prepared to execute a customer friendly process for inquiries
regarding involved vehicles.

IMPORTANT: Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer new vehicle
inventory. Federal law requires you to complete this recall service on these
vehicles before retail delivery. Violation of this requirement by a dealer could
result in a civil penalty of up to $21,000 per vehicle. Involved vehicles can be
determined by using the VIP inquiry process.

Yes, experienced this on the drive home from the dealership. Heard a rubbing when slowing down, got out and the passenger side was flopping down onto the tire. This was with less than 100 miles on the truck. Hopefully they come up with a solution.

I would put some of this blame on the EPA regulations for MPG. No engineer want to take every tolerance to the extreme to save weight for MPG.

Abolish the EPA.

Jeep engineering is totally to blame... Same as with the heat under the driver's right foot... My foot has been burned... two days ago... during a 500 mile day trip in the mountains... The sole of my shoe... heated up as to my not noticing what was going on... until the new discomfort... really started getting my attention... Red, swollen... deep tissue burn... My foot is still sore... and as such feeling the heat now... in a more sensitive manner...

Had to buy new shoes today... $100.00+... to try and find a material and design of shoe... that does not heat up so much...

And I posted a detailed accounting of this in real time... I have heard.. zero... from any Jeep people around here... I have contacted the service manager where I purchased the truck... and informed him... I need to know how to file a formal complaint...

To be truthful if I was in jeeps shoes I would not contact you neither. You are posting very serious allegations that could be very costly if true. I would pass that on to the lawyers and that may take a bit.

Please realize I am in no way siding with jeep just pointing out how they may work.
