Flushing Brake Fluid

My scanner supports abs bleed on this truck, but I’ve been so far unsuccessful in getting it to do it.

Just wondering, what scanner are you using? I have a Thinktools Pros I was debating on using for the same thing.

My scanner supports abs bleed on this truck, but I’ve been so far unsuccessful in getting it to do it. I will say my brakes feel great, and I did a snow packed road “bleed”, by engaging abs by repeatedly hitting the brakes on slippery stuff. But I really would like to get the scanner abs bleed to work. I bought the specific scanner for that purpose. Do you mind sharing the steps you took? I did do a mechanical bleed first.

I have a tazer. Your need to bypass the security module for the abs flush to work. A lot of people get a 12+8 to obdII and plug the sensor directly there. I just unmarry my tazer mini and it automatically disables whatever gets in the way of the abs flush. Took me a min to figure out tho.

Thanks. My Thinktool Pros has a program I paid a small yearly fee that supposedly allows me to tunnel through the Security Gateway Module without need of a bypass cable like the dealer WiTech tool does. Guess I will see.

I have a tazer, but it’s not plugged in. My scanner definitely plugs into the obdII. Are you saying I need to just disconnect the security cables?

No it requires something plugged in. But whatever that thing is it’s gotta be cool with the abs program being sent through. A unmarried tazer. Or just have a nice scan tool that has the necessary info needed to bypass the stock safety in place.

I just found it. My scanner is an Innova 5160RS.

No it requires something plugged in. But whatever that thing is it’s gotta be cool with the abs program being sent through. A unmarried tazer. Or just have a nice scan tool that has the necessary info needed to bypass the stock safety in place.

Currently the Oem cables are plugged in. The tazer has beeen in the glove box since the last vehicle setting adjustment.

if your scanner is listed in the manual that it can work with FCA cars its usually fine. I just use a generic BT scanner and Jscan. The Tazer when unmarried and plugged in somehow functions bypass but not entirely sure how. I miss Toyotas a little bit, they auto prime the ABS module everytime you cycle the ign on. so bleeding the abs is super easy on them.

I think the key to the discussion is 'Preventative' maintenance. There is no guarantee of failure from not flushing the fluids regularly and there is no guarantee of no failure when using a maintenance schedule. It is all in what level of risk/expenditure you are happy with.
I have seen 2 year old brake lines rust through and 60+ year old lines still going.

(Yes, ASE, GM, Jaguar, Bendix, Meritor/Wabco trained, certified, blah, blah, blah)

Thats fair. I'll get some test strips. If it comes up anything other than perfect I'll flush it. I have the tools.

Yeah tazer is its own she bypass.
