But why are you supposed to wait 10 seconds before you pull out the nozzle after filling up???
To give you time to think about how to avoid scrapping your hand on the tab…

Don't know how you get that fuel cap to stay in place there. Mine just won't stay. I'm like 0-150 with that one. I gave up. I did just let it hang, until I just bought a thing off of Etsy.

Not sure. Maybe the nozzle at my station is not as wide as other?

Mine hangs like that with no problem. I have to do it that way, since the strap broke.

I’m left-handed too, and I have yet to scrape my hand.

Want to know why? Because I ordered it in November and the eta keeps getting pushed back!!! (Willys semi equipped)

Sorry, just venting some gas…pun intended ?

Apologies to those who had been hoping, wishing, this thread would simply die a slow, normal death, but I decided to see what all the fuss was about by trying to hurt my hand while filling the tank this AM. Sorry, just couldn't do it. Too much space between nozzle and door "tab".

Am I missing something? Look how far BACK, I mean away from the truck and the fuel door, the handle part of the nozzle is - and then look at the big gap between the two. My hand never comes even close to that pointy tab because the handle of the nozzle is waaaay back there and even if the HANDLE of the nozzle was close to the fill hole, there's still a gap of a couple of inches.
I'd have to try.

Anyway, carry on, carry forward. I suppose if that did cut me bad enough, it could end up being the last jeep I ever own.

That sharp pointy thing that supposedly causes owies is ahead of my hand, not even next to it.......

Sometimes the cap simply dangles at the end of it's plastic leash. Other times, like for this pic and because it was windy, I stuck the leash in the plastic clip as seen in the pictures so the wind can't bang it against the fender.
Otherwise, I remove the cap, carefully set it at the end of it's leash, and fill up. We used to have to set caps any place we could find a place to put it, having the cord to hang it from, or like I did in the pics, is fine, the latter being an extra step, though.

How are you supposed to hook the cap to the door? It looks like there's a place for the strap to go but it never stays there for me. On my bmw's, there's a peg on the bottom of the cap that then sits into the gas door so it's not flopping against the paint.
I hang it over the door sometimes due to that. ?‍♂
I've never put the lanyard on that hook. I just rest the edge of the cap on it.

I've knocked it off before, but never had it pop off by itself.

I'm right handed.

I've tried that first, after have my MJ, XJ's and LJ that was my first thought it was for... Then I read it in owner manual. ?
Last time I refueled I used my left hand just to see the problem, I didn't notice it as a problem. So I figured it was just a feel good reason to bicker about, maybe like the "spare door" fob. ? That bothered me at first but has grown on me now.

I'm left handed and have no problems. Since I have a diesel. I think my door opens wider.
