Heard back, in his words “As long as the TSB does not impact PCM or TCM, then it would be fine.”

Sounds as though if the TSB is fairly benign and mechanical in nature, it shouldn’t be a problem. Reading between the lines leads me to believe the tune is at risk if any update needs to occur over OBDII. Fair enough. @Keith Diesel that sounds about right, $50 is reasonable to rinse and repeat but the downtime while PCM is out could be an issue.

If there is a recall for emissions related issue, CA won't renew your registration until the update is done..... Now I read they are starting to look at software versions at the biannual inspections. We have gotten by for years with EFI live on the 3rd gen rams.......Not anymore!

Well I'm still waiting on word about whether or not my local independent shop can get the OK from Stellantis to program a new PCM for me.

I've decided not to approach any dealerships about it due to potential questions they might have and warranty concerns. In fact, I'm also considering not pushing to have the PCM done at all because it gets married to my VIN when programmed, so Stellantis knows how many PCMs are out there.

In any case, I'm moving forward with tuning. Scheduled to get my truck done Thursday. Of course will film for a YouTube video going over all of it and will have it published by end of the week. Should be fun, though the six hour trip to the Detroit suburbs won't.

Ran into yet another snag. GDE only accepts cash for in-house tuning. Which means I'd have to carry over a grand in cash across two state lines. And that's assuming that right this second I even have over a grand of cash free this week.

It's like the Jeep gods are telling me not to tune this truck.

It’s a sign, cash only?? That’s crazy.

What's wrong with cash?

I mean, I don't understand how they can accept cards when you mail in your ECU but they won't if you drive in with your ECU. What's the difference?

May sound like paranoia but I've heard many stories of people getting pulled over and having large amounts of cash seized under shady guise of law, and then it costs a fortune to get it back in court. I just never have liked to drive long distances with cash, especially to Detroit. It's legal theft by authorities. Easy way to pad their own funds I guess.

I'll think about it. I may still go for it. Sure would be cool to do some MPG and towing testing with the GDE tune.

They may opt for cash given the 2.X% fee on swipes, more if they are low volume. I’d offer to simply cover the transaction fee. If still no, I’d at least inquire as to the reason. It could also be just CYA given the EPA, no paper trail. If that’s the case, PayPal (bound to a CC) with a payment for “suspension work” as the line item should do.

Well I have had the GDE tune on my gen 3 2021 gladiator diesel rubicon for over a week now and it’s worth every dollar. First that irritating noise when shut off vehicle is gone. The truck has more get up and go. The gas mileage is about 3 mpg better. And every time I drive it I know it’s burning cleaner and less crud building up in the engine. Will see when I change the oil. i can tell you that I was having no problems with my gladiator prior to tune. After tune no codes . So far so good. I personally was worried that I would be throwing codes left and right. Not at all. its great so far and glad I only had less than 15000 miles on engine so cleaner longer.

$1100 cash is not substantial. Had a guy buy my motorcycle for almost $40k cash. He drove from TN to TX to pick up.
