GDE Afterlife tune has only been installed for a week. The difference so far is night and day. I thought the EOC was good. The GDE makes it look bad.
Thank you. I've been saying this for a long time. Not only is a GDE a software diesel calibration engineer by trade, but he's worked for several OEMs. The knowledge and insight that he has is second to none and the tuning shows it.

Tier 3 is 15 yrs or 150,00 miles. Hmmm.......I'm at 80,000+ miles on a 2022 MY. Would it be worth it to lie on the form? LOL
Many people lie on the form. As mentioned previously, that is a moral/ethical dilemma. I feel like I'm in the minority who doesn't lie, lol. As a matter of fact, I'm just now getting around to installing the GDE Afterlife tune on my 2015 Ram EcoDiesel because it meets/exceeds the 10-year minimum requirement.

I'll reach 15 years before 150,000 miles on my 2020 and 2023 EcoDiesels, so those will remain stock until then. But that's okay, I love my trucks even with stock tuning.

Agree. This was a dilemma for me when going with EOC so early into ownership. It’s the decision I made and I gotta own it.
I never wanted to delete my Jeep. Didn’t need more power, fuel mileage. I did it to keep my Jeep drivable. Also didn’t want to spend the money on a delete for an engine under warranty (maybe not per the dealerships).

I Believe the real issue is between Jeep/Stellantis and their dealer network. We have all read on this forum the different types of service customers receive. Some dealers can get parts some can’t. Not enough diesel techs on staff, if any and so on. I tried 2 different dealers to get a DPF problem solved. The biggest issue for me was the 3 months of waiting. Per the dealers, I couldn’t even pay out of pocket to get it fixed.
I have since been informed of a great Jeep service department (by You). This dealership is 3.5 hours away. The 2 I went to are 1.45 and an hour from me. My frustration stopped me there. If not things may have been different.

Thank You. I appreciate all the info you bring to this forum.

Oil temp update. I was able to complete a testing loop through the mountains this morning. I have actually done this a few times since installing GDE. With and without trailer. Needed today to confirm before posting
This loop is the same that I used during testing 3 plus years ago. Posted that info in the Diesel Cooling thread.
This loop is about 20 miles. More mileage up then down. Up is about 1500’ over 10 miles.

No real change once at the top. Between stock, oil cooler fan on/off, EOC and GDE. All within 7 degrees. Fan on performs the best. GDE pulls the best with less effort, smoother. All temps return to normal very quickly. Within a mile or so, fan on.
The real change is my new normal with the 190 degree t-stat is about 15 degrees lower, fan off. Around 200 degrees. Coolant temps very similar.

To me the surprising part of all of this is the max oil temp is basically the same while adding horsepower and torque.

What Im seeing in my longer drives (pushing it) testing. The 190 degree works as advertised. Keeps normal temps lower. Only delays reaching your normal max temps. Opens the normal temp window. Still verifying by how much.

Did you happen to watch the EGTs? I've seen it reported that they run cooler with GDE

I’ve only recently started to pay attention to EGT’s. Frankly, I’m not good at it even though it is on the first page on the IDash.
I can only say the temp changes rapidly, over a large window. The highest I’ve seen is in the 1200’s with EOC and GDE. I cannot say it is lower, nor will I ever be able to say one is lower than the other.
I will try to pay more attention, especially with the trips planned.

Your welcome. Your post’s regarding GDE is what gave me the confidence to drop more money on a tune.

Extremely happy I did!

So Thank You.

I've just recently started myself due to a turbo issue towing. The last few days I've been watching it closely emtpy trying to see how high it gets. Towing I've seen above 1,600 a few times and that is when it's thrown the code. Normal highway cruising at 68mph is 850 to 1,100 depending on wind and grade. The highest I've seen is 1,580 while WOT passing and it falls back as soon as I let off the pedal.

Yes. I’ve been paying attention to your posts. I actually pay attention to almost all the Diesel post. This forum is a good information source.

I’ve been doing the don’t shut off until oil temps are 215 or below. Along with factory recommended idle times depending on situation. This is when I notice EGT temps the most. It’s become natural to look at the IDash once in park. The EGT ‘s have always been between 300/500. With the 190 stat oil temps are about 200, at this time. I do have an easy 1 mile drive to park at my house, which helps.

You might have already mentioned it but what power level of the EOC Stage 2 did you previously have?
I never had an overall problem with MRtuning but really disliked the EGT spike I would get no mater what power level of their SOFT I was on. Hoping GDE won’t spike especially when towing.

I’m also very excited that they offer the exhaust brake option, Complete game changer for towing!

I got the lowest HP/TQ offered. Thinking it was stock/sport. Not positive on the name.

I Did get the engine brake option. It is very subtle. Stupid smooth…IE not sure how much it’s doing. lol. I’ve been concerned with the up. It’s part of the tune, always on. Definitely noticeable without trailer. Looking for more with trailer. Talking 6% type grades. Transmission works with tune downshifting.
Happy I got the option.

I was understanding the exhaust brake function only came on if you downshifted in manual mode to bring rpm above 2500?

Funny. This is a question I asked GDE without a reply. I asked a lot of questions at the same time, maybe too many.

I can’t confirm the manual mode above 2500 thing. I have hit manual mode with trailer…IDK.

My previous statement still applies. My experience is just based on the engine/trans tune. It doesn’t take off when going downhill.

I have the GDE Emissions compliant tune. The exhaust brake kicks in anytime you are decelerating and above 2500rpm. You can manually shift so your RPMs go up or if your using cruise control it will engauge as well. It is a great option to have, id recommend it for anyone considering it.

Not a fan of using the turbo vanes as a engine brake wear and tear on the engine and turbo and its always on. To be effective the engines really needs you to drop gears to increase the rpm. Breaking I have control and they are cheap.
