. I am basing my statements on actual experience. And someone somewhere posted a comparison of gear ratios and rpm differences for different size tires.
Thanks and I understand.

The point is running 37s on 4.10 gears will not provide factory-like transmission performance because of the tire size increase.

And the point of this thread is, I think, what gears are best for 37" tires

And I am of the opinion that 4.10 gears are the best if you have a Rubicon. Even if I didn’t have a Rubicon I wouldn’t go any lower that 4.30 on 37s.

4.10 axle gears in an auto JT/JL are mathematically the equivalent of 4.68 gears in a JK auto when in 1st gear. Then, you also have the benefit of closer gear ratios in the 8-speed vs. the 5-speed. Don’t get me wrong, if I had unlimited funding, I would change axles/gearing.

Although my funding is not unlimited I could regear if I wanted to without hardship. I just don’t think it is necessary to regear if you have 4.10 already.

To what? (That's the point of this thread)

Obvious question is, why would you re-gear "if you don't think it's necessary?" Now we're starting to get to the point

I said that I have more than plenty of money to regear if I chose to but it is just a waste of money.

Hands down, the 8 speed is a game changer and makes the truck work on 37s just fine, especially with the Rubicon or Max Tow 4.10 gears.
On a 3.73 truck, especially a manual, deeper gears will make it better, especially once you start to work the truck a bit. If you’re considering gears, ask yourself how much ripping along at 80+mph you’ll do on 37s (or bigger).

JEEPs run 80MPH all the time. I want my JEEP to run like factory at freeway speeds including 80MPH when I go that fast. I’ll likely regear to do just that.

Even at 85, on 37s with 5.13 gears, you'd only be turning 2625rpm. That's happyland for the Pentastar.

. Your profile states that you have an LE, have you driven it yet? Or made any modifications yet? There are many many people on here telling you the same thing based on our own experience with vehicles that are already modified. I’m just curious why you cannot accept our experience.

The issue is not your opinion or that of others. It's this thread which is "Gears for 37" tires" not, do you need gears when running 37" tires. I talking to people in "real life" not just on the forum and they all tell me the same thing: the Gladiator runs well on 37's BUT at freeway speeds it won't get in and stay in the upper gears. They say, it needs gears. Not urgently but "it needs gears."

I accept your experience - as one who has not regeared

Are you close to Nashville? I’d like for you to come take a drive with me and tell me that my Gladiator that I drive every day will not shift into and stay in 8th gear. I am here trying to tell you that it will and it does even when towing either one of my two trailers. If you are wanting your pentastar to immediately run up to high gear and lug itself up hills then you are in for a long life of disappointment. That is not how the engine was designed to run. All power is in the top end so it must downshift to keep itself in the most efficient part of the powerband. You could put .713 gears in it and on a long steep hill it will downshift.

In reading what you have written are you saying that your gladiator gets into 8 gear and stays there on the highway? If so you have the only one in the world that does. I still maintain that the <225 RPM difference is imperceptible during daily use. Until you have gotten 37s on your gladiator you are working off of conjecture, regardless of how many people with actual experience tell you otherwise. I will repeat it again JK experience is of absolutely zero value on a JT. I have been told and told and told that if I run 37s on stock rims without spacers I will rub. Guess what? I don’t rub. Just another example of JK bro-science corrupting actual JT facts.

Jeep Gladiator Gears for 37" tires j214c

Dude, this isn't a debate or a poll nor is it who can be right-er.

i got your point several times previously: You're running 37's on your Gladiator and you insist re-gearing isn't necessary.

My points are:
1. That's your opinion and you're entitled to your opinion
2. The Gladiator will not, on 37's perform as it does on the factory supplied 33's
4. This thread is about WHICH GEARS to run on 37's
5. You won the internet today :like: congrats!

how can you say that 37s do not perform the same as 33s if YOU HAVE NEVER DRIVEN YOURS ON 37s? I am just offering you the chance to save a couple thousand dollars. You are offended at me because you cannot accept what every other owner that has 37s is saying. I will argue until the end of time that if you have a Rubicon or Sport with max tow then the best gear for your setup is 4.10. If my Gladiator doesn't perform as well as stock come prove it to me...please I always seek out opportunities to grow and learn. You have pointed out over and over that the topic of this thread is what gear for 37s, why is my, and many others, opinion any less valid than yours? Especially since I have driven a Gladiator on 33s and a Gladiator on 37s which now has 9800 miles on it.
