Has anyone seen the episode from FourWheeler (Ian Johnson) on Motor Trend / Season 3 Episode 3. I tried to find a clip on you tube but no Luck.
He takes an older JKU (09 ??) and chops the 2 rear doors off and adds a bed from a Gladiator. Awesome build, especially for you guys after the 2 door Gladdy..... oh - and wait until you see the color!

You're missing the point. People here don't want to put any actual work into making something unique, they want the factory to do it for them!

Let's just go nuts. 8 foot beds for everyone!
long long jeep.webp

(and before you ask, yes i measured and that is within an inch or 2 of an 8 foot bed, as I made it exactly 60% longer)

2 door in 70s and early 80s was successful why people didn't have as many options and trucks and cars actually had room in side them then. (full size) Oddly enough Dodge and Ford?? made 4 door "crew cab" trucks but didn't sell well if I'm not mistaken except for special purpose like R/R companies.
2-parent working households have increased a lot- roughly 1/2 of households have 2 working parents (of the ever decreasing percentage of married couples). Hence the need for double-duty vehicles.

Usually the family car was used, not the family truck, for hauling the family around.

My family had station wagons and SUVs growing up. Conversely, My uncle drove an extended cab p/u in the 80s and then a crew cab p/u in the 90s. No kids.

I'd be curious what that looks like on a 2 door

Thanks, didn't know about that one. I suppose just a little bit too long of a box for this size truck (my opinion) now that I can see a good shot, but cool to see it in regular cab form.

Crew cab gladiator is great since it has enough room for family, and you get the versatility. With vehicle prices today not to many can afford having a “house project” truck and a separate daily driver. You need a Jack of all trades.
That’s exactly it. I need one vehicle that does everything. Sure there are compromises, but there hasn’t been anything yet that my Gladiator couldn’t do.
