When I have to suddenly throttle up, quicker than usual, then release the throttle, it is slow returning to normal idle or deceleration.
It stays at a high rpm for, at least, a couple seconds.
Any way to remedy this? I installed a Pedal Commander hoping it would help, but, no luck.
Thanks guys!!

Short of modifying your PCM's software in regards to throttle control, the only way to remedy this is to not operate the throttle in such a way as to cause the behaviour in the first place. It's doing what it's been programmed to do.

Sounds like a dirty throttle body. I would clean that and go from there.

I understand this is not normal acceleration method, sir.
Only when I have to avoid something.
And, who and why would someone "design" it to do that?
For what purpose would this serve?

Just use proper throttle body cleaner with a soft rag and avoid brake cleaner or even some carburetor cleaners.

Also, disconnect the electrical connector that goes to the step motor on the throttle body before cycling the throttle body butterfly by hand.

It is programmed this way, it is not a dirty throttle body. Chopping the throttle is a high emission event so they programmed it to slowly back it off. I think they overdid it with the hanging throttle. I hate it. It is not only annoying, it can be dangerous. Situations can change in a split second. You might need to quickly go from "giving it a lot of gas to merge into traffic" to "whoa nelly, some idiot just pulled in front of me" but the computer keeps giving the engine fuel after you let off. Or you might just want to have some quick fun on a slick road or in a field with a quick blip of the throttle but the throttle does not back off immediately when you let off. It is really stupid the way it is programmed. Makes me long for a real life throttle cable.

You're correct, about all of this.

If you tap the brake pedal (automatic only) it SHOULD make the torque converter unlock fully and kill all line pressure (aka neutral), or at least most of line pressure. This is why when you hold the brakes at a stop, you don't destroy your clutch packs. This is the way planetary transmissions worked in the past, but hey...I could be wrong!

As someone with a manual transmission, I just push the clutch in if needed...and like most, will then grumble about not having control when I want it. The only real solution is to get the ECM flashed/tuned, but you risk engine failure if tuned poorly/not maintained as required by the re-tune.

Yes, it can be dangerous. Blame the EPA/CARB for the sheit emissions requirements for passenger vehicles in the USA. EPA tuning actually causes premature engine failures compared to a well tuned system. At least we still have MPFI and not DI, you'd lose the little down low torque we have but gain top end HP (not much) as a trade-off for slightly better emissions.

Yes I like this post, because I just recently did this . *Slowly* opening the throttle body butterfly enough to clean it did not hurt anything on mine. And I had mine completely off the second time .The first time I used a brand new microfiber cloth pulling dirty material to the outside.

The purpose is nothing new, being first implemented on vehicles in the US starting back in the late 60s to early 70s. Look up information on a carburetor dashpot. The mechanics of how it works has changed with electronic fuel injection, but the reasoning for slowing engine deceleration remains the same.
