I refuse to believe that is real. If it is, that guy is a complete moron.

Turned out great. Extra work aside the beveled edge looks good and might be friendlier if bumped.

Interesting thread. I plan to go pretty simple: an ARE fiberglass cap permanently mounted to the bed, with the rear cabin bulkhead and window cut out and connected with a rubber accordion bellow to the bed and bed cap cut in the same shape. Sleep in the combined space.

The bed cap painted in the same Sarge Green as the truck for a homogenous look.

Gonna call it the BattleWagon.

Looking great!

Have you thought about using the cavity created by the wood frame and the shell to add insulation?

Yes, but I’m struggling to find a suitable insulation. I think spray foam would be best but is difficult to find in this small of a quantity. Or I can fill with fiberglass but I’m worried about it settling with all the vibration. Maybe XPS board?

Any ideas from the forum?

Foam board and a spray in foam? Something like “great stuff” for windows and doors might do the trick.

I might use this. It's still expensive but available in single can quantities.

That suspension should last at least five more minutes.

I’d just use foam board insulation. You’re going to have a bunch of thermal loss from the canvas sides so the small benefit of spray foam is not worth the cost in my opinion.

I’d use whatever takes up the least amount of space, and weighs the least, regardless of cost. You’ve come this far.

Making interior side panels today. Will wrap them in carpet like the bed platform.

Do you need to add anything? I'm wondering what your R value would be just by your carpeted interior panel, the air cavity and the outer fiberglass. If you can get a good seal on the interior panels to minimize draft then you might not need the extra weight and cost of the insulation at all. I was pretty amazed at how a carpeted fiberglass topper heats up just from being in it. Just a thought.
