Gladiator Flush Style Tail Lights V2 Update!

if I am going to pay $500 for a set of LED tail lights I expect them to last longer than a year or two. The OEM light I have are still going strong after 5....

I had a set go bad shortly after buying them but the replacement set has been going strong for a couple of years now. Oracle has been good to me.

So I went to get my Jeep inspected and it failed because of these lights. The inspection station told me these lights are not DOT approved and do not have the required DOT numbers printed on the lenses. Is Oracle aware these are technically not street legal in some states? I didnt see anywhere on their website these are not legal for street use?

I've installed them on mine and am loving them. Easy install and get lots of compliments when out with a group off-roading.

Oracle only lists them as DOT 'Compliant' - code for 'not approved but should be fine'.

To be fair, most of their lighting accessories are probably illegal to use on the road, or in a grey area - so it does not surprise me.

They're also a Louisiana company and down here we recently abolished vehicle inspections all together, so nobody is checking tail lights

Time for a new inspection station. You should be able to put a bulb inside a red solo cup and have it pass inspection. It just has to be seen at 100 feet....

§1905. Rear lights
1. Requirement. Except as provided in subsection 3, a motor vehicle with 3 or more wheels or a tiny home, trailer or semitrailer must have on the rear 2 lights, one on each side of the axis, each capable of displaying a red light visible for a distance of at least 100 feet behind the vehicle.

There is nothing (that I was able to find) mandating a DOT number

General community reports about V1 were not positive. I've always loved the look of these but i'm right there with you. Gotta hear some user reports before I trust Oracle, because a reasonable portion of the V1 units in the wild ended up in the trash.

I just logged on to read the reviews on the V2. I had the originals and they lasted just beyond warranty and I went back to my factory tail lights. But I do like the looks of the flush mount oracles and I am thinking about pulling the trigger on them and the mopar racing tailgate strip. I am looking for the good, bad, ugly on them before I spend big bucks on them.

Is there any discount available for folks, like myself, who had multiple failures with the V1s? I’m back on the stock tails because Oracle told me I needed to spend another $200ish to replace the second light that failed. Just didn’t feel it was right to spend $800 total to get one working set.

This is a really good question and fits my pistol as well, I want to try the V2 but I have shell shock from the V1's that I sent to the landfill shortly after the warranty expired.

To be clear it was for: **Reject vehicle if the side marker reflectors on vehicles originally so equipped are missing**.

That's hilarious. The lens wraps around the side of the housing. He'd get even more angsty if you'd been running a Rugged ridge or a Combat offroad light. Again, time for a new inspector. This guy probably feels like bumper stickers are a sin.
