I am using the Dirty Life Road Kill beadlock wheel with my Patagonia 38x13.50R17 tires. The wheel is a 17x9 with a -14 offset and a 4.45 backspace. This is a Max Tow with the wide axles.

I'm going to do something I don't usually do and throw up a white flag on wheel offset and backspacing. It's a mystery to me, and every time I think I understand a post, the next post in the thread contradicts it.

I have an Overland that I am lifting 3.5" in order to fit 37x12.50x17 tires. I do not want to run spacers. What exactly do I need to look at in order to know whether a wheel will fit?

I really like the Black Rhino Armory in sand (my Jeep is a Gobi) and the tan/black Arsenal. I don't mind spending $220 per wheel for a set, but if I can find something I like almost as much at a significantly better price, I'm going with those.

Are they gonna fit? If not, what do I need?

TL;DR version: Help! Which wheels!?

They offer the wheels I bought in other sizes, and are noticeably cheaper than that. I got my 20x10’s for under $200 per wheel, shipped free from Custom Offsets.

Curious if we know the specs on those rims/tires. I’m trying to understand how far out tires stick. The rims/tires I want look like they would push the tires out 3” apparently and I don’t know if that equates to a lot of tire outside the fender or just a little.

I looked up the 17” wheel, and it is 0 offset. That should work fine. You can run 37s on a Rubicon with up to +30 offset (per Discount Tire). With the narrower axles, that equates to +11.
Disclaimer: I haven’t personally verified the fit of +30 on a Rubicon, but we know the AEV +25 works. This also is conditional on control arms having a clearance bend like the factory arms do. RK arms do NOT have this bend.

Is there a thread with an explanation of rims, offset etc so that I can better understand what the heck it all means? I just want to know if I want no more than an inch of my 35x12.5 or 37.12.5 tire outside my fender than xxx X xxx rim is what I need to shop for.

Where? That’s quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else I’ve seen.

Discount Tire. Early March. Yeah it sounded cheap to me but they didn't act like I was getting deal or anything. I just checked my receipt 189.00. PM me and I'll send you my order number. Tell them to look it up if they quote something higher.

Can you send a shot from directly behind tires I want to see what the backspacing looks like and how far out they are.

Here ya go. My truck has the Max tow with wider fenders and axles. Just looking I'd say the flat tread sticks out an inch and maybe with side wall 2.5 inches. And the front fender come in a bit so from behind they look like they stick out a litter further.

Great pictures, thank you!
Man that looks like just the right amount outside the fender. I’m getting the rubicon so the fenders are higher but I believe they are essentially the same distance out. From my understanding the max tow has that tiny extra big of trim flair you see around lip of wheel well. I’ve never seen any measurements to confirm though.

Do you have a head on shot from the front?
