I was on the Rubicon Trail and we stopped for a bathroom break and I put the JT in park and the entire Dash light up like a christmas tree, the horn started honking, the windshield wipers started going and everyone was looking at me wondering what I was doing. I shut it off and back on and it ran fine but the service sway bar light was on and it disabled traction control. When I got home and scanned it, it had over 90 codes saved in memory with codes from every module. I erased all of them and haven't had an issue since other than key fob not found with one key fob.

I found out about a safety feature when I had the door ajar and tried to put in drive. Soon as the door swings it slams it back into park.

There is a way to defeat it . Something like go back to park 3 times or some stupid stuff .

Also just turn off access to phone messages in the dash and it won't do that either. Mine is turned off

If I get out of my JT while it is running and have the keys in my pocket (which I rarely do, I just leave them in the console), yes, the horn does sound 3 times.

Probably a setting I can turn off somewhere.

This isn't the same thing....... Your Jeep is running when you open the door. There isn't any setting to shut that off. Folks get a Tazer and enable the 'Kill 3 Honk'.

I have a Tazer.... and the Kill 3 Honk is enabled and functions for that purpos.

The situation I had... The truck wasn't running. I pushed the start button to be in the ACC mode so I could listen to music. When I opened the door, the alarm went off.
The only thing I can think of, when in ACC mode, the truck assumes its LOCKED ????. The alarm went off as soon as I opened the door, so it had nothing to do with the remote.

mine likes to randomly tell me the key fob isn't present, even though its in my hand. A couple smacks of the fob on the steering wheel and it works again.

Tried replacing batteries, tried holding it to the start button. Nothing but some good ol violence fixes it.

Never underestimate the value of some good ole fashion violence.

seriously though try taking it apart and using some canned air inside of it. Fobs can get crudded up from dust and stop being as functional. I’ve had a couple do that to me that weren’t sealed properly.

#1) So, We’re sitting in the parking lot eating breakfast. The Jeep is in “ACC” mode so we can listen to music while we eat.
I get out of the Jeep to throw away the trash, and the alarm goes off!!! Alrighty then……
Embarrassed by the loud noises I was making at 6:30am on a Sunday morning…..with neighborhoods nearby.
Obviously, had to fish the keys out of my pocket to unlock/disarm.

#2) I filled up the tank … reset the MPG /screen. Drove a couple miles home and registered 30mpg when I pulled into the garage (that’s something you never see…..). The Jeep sat in the garage for a day……. I got in it yesterday, drove out of the driveway and the mpg screen was now saying 12mpg. There must be gremlins in my garage who’ve been revving the engine while I was sleeping…..

Post up some ‘fun’ weirdnesses…..

it was the gremlin that made it 30MPG or youleft it running all night HAHAHA

mine also does this. or you put your foot o the brake and press start and it doesn't start, just goes into ACC mode.

Mine makes random beeps from the radio? Someone told me its because i liked a song on teh radio and it flags that song and chimes when it is on but i cleared any possible "likes" and it still does it.

The phone ringer is terrifyingly loud. There seems to be no way to reduce the ring volume. While the ring volume can be adjusted after it starts ringing, the adjusted volume level of not saved.

I finally acclimated to this after a couple years, but it still scares the stuff out of wife - she screams in terror every time.

If anyone knows a fix, I would most grateful.

Seriously?? <scratching head> So…it beeps when one of your LIKED songs is coming on? OMG…. Why??? I mean…. Listen to the music and you’ll know …..

Just listen to the damn music already….. is it that hard? No beeps…please.

So many damn beeps everywhere…. It’s kinda like junk/spam mail. You don’t know which emails are real and which ones aren’t - so you ignore EVERYTHING.

Mine has the odd glitch with the drivers heated seat and heated steering wheel. Try turn them on and the lights will flash. Next time I start it everything is fine.
My son texted me and says dad your heated steering doesn’t work. I said oh yeah. Just shut it off, open the door and then close it and start it. BAM. Works.

If I go above 2.000‘ altitude the outside temp will not adjust again until you get back down to a couple hundred feet. I Have a F250 that will do the same thing. Luckily the Jeep has a low on the AC setting, only way I can get the AC to cool Is to drop the temp to low. The F250 just won’t cool at all.

We have big temp swings so say I drive to the ranch in the morning its 50 degrees and the temp gauge still reads 50 degrees at altitude when I crank up to leave though its 98 outside.

Can’t reproduce on either truck at the dealership

You got that right. Very odd stuff. Mine only beeps a few times when I leave the local food store and don't have any beer in the bags.

Not sure how it knows that, but it may be part of the Active Safety package that detects vehicles in your blind spots and then detects the lack of beer in the vehicle.
