I am extremely new to this. What does the +18 mean?

I am getting the 2 inch mopar lift with BR arsenals - the guy told me that 9.5 width is plenty? I think the exact setup is 17x9.5 and -18 - is that for the wheel or how the whole tire sits under fender?
Thank you!

+ or - # is the offset that the wheel has. The larger the number (+) the less it sticks out. Wheels with a negative offset will stick out past the fender flares more. Stock Rubicon wheels are 7.5" wide and have a +44 offset, so they stay tucked in.

9.5 for width is just fine. The -18 he mentioned means it will stick out past the fenders some, depending on your new tire size, I'd imagine about 2.5" further than they do now.

Great! Thank you!!

I've seen so many posts with two separate sizes - I am pretty for sure that is tire and then wheel size. I was just worried that the wheels/rim part was going to be deep, and I don't want that - I don't want the rim flush, but just indented a little, and I also don't want everything sticking way out past fenders.
My rubicon came with upgraded tires - I think they're 33 falken 17's. I'll have to go check if they stick out a tad.

Thanks for getting back to me! Now I'm waiting on the place to email me everything they ordered. Yikes.

Very nice! I intend on going with the HDs and having them powdered. Prismatic makes a match for Sarge Green but I’ve been wondering about the center caps. Are they metal? Yeah, wow, this looks so clean. Thanks for posting!

Thanks. Honestly I’d have to double check my caps. I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Colour matched with Sarge would be awesome.

If you want to keep the wheels tucked or, at least semi-tucked, you probably want a 9 inch width or less with something between 5.77 and 5.5 backspacing. Here’s how the wheels you are looking at compare to stock:

They will poke around 3.5 inches more than stock. AEV makes wheels with a 8.5 inch width and +25 offset (5.77 inch backspacing) that would work great.

I believe the actual tread sticks out about a inch and the side wall sticks out a little further.
Thanks for the info! Helps a lot in making my decision

Finally got a chance to wash up the Jeep. It’s been pretty sunny here in SoCal so I decided to take off the doors. I’ll probably pull of the tops some time next wk & put my alien shade to use.

been on family mode since the mods were installed so no wheeling yet.
But I’m itching to go. Been climbing over small hill in my area and mall crawling in the parking lots haha!! I even found some hills at an off ramp that I’ve been going over.
GOD IM PATHETIC! Haha!!

I’ve been wanting to go to Oregon for 2 yrs. I actually had a trip booked with a nice spot on canon beach. The Weather didn’t permit ?‍♂

But yea... I’m not gonna lie. The weather has been nice here.
