Hi all,

After years of waiting I finally got the Gladiator I've been wanting since they were introduced. A week ago I bought a dark gray Mojave X. Since '21 every year the mantra (on youtube at least) has been "wait until next year" and when 25's were announced and I saw there weren't any real changes I went ahead and got one. I went with Mojave instead of Rubicon because during the test drives the Mojave seemed smoother on the street and TBH I don't plan on doing any off roading - the pejorative mall crawler.

I've just been tooling around getting used to being up high and whatnot coming from a slammed sports car background. I'm going to an off-road shop today for a Berliner and side steps and maybe seat covers. What other mods would you all recommend? I was thinking maybe spacers to make it feel more planted and maybe a cat-back because I am used to some rumble, and maybe some of those lights that sit in front of the A pillars, or a light bar attached to the front bumper? Suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mods are always the preference of the owner. For example, IMO, A-pillar & off-roads lights just don't belong on a mall-crawler. Also, I think most exhausts generally sound bad on the Pentastar.

If you want a little engine noise I'd suggest the Mopar Cold Air Intake, but just install the air box top & inlet pipe and run it with the factory paper filter. That way you get some induction noise, enough to let you know that there is actually an engine under the hood, but you don't have to deal with the hole in the hood or the generally poorer filtration of the so-called 'performance' air filters.

Other than that, I think a dead pedal is a worthwhile addition, along with a Smart Stop Start module.

Will you be taking the doors and top off? If so, maybe a cab cover and some doors-off mirrors.

I don't normally like interior "junk" addons, but a friend gave me a storage thing that goes around the shifters and it's pretty handy and looks stock. Might not be this exact one, but it's just like it:

Nice truck, but if you’re only going to use it for a mall crawler, there’s a whole lot of better options that would handle street driving better. Anything with an IFS front end
You mean a different truck?

I’ve read and heard a lot of good feedback on there AWE Trail Edition cat back. It’s especially good because the high clearance design though.

If you aren’t gonna off-road it, then screw it, get something with side exits. No reason to go with a tucked tip design.

These are the exhaust brands I’ve always fancied for the Gladiator and some past vehicles. No particular order. I haven’t heard any of them in person but the Borla Atak does seem to be the most aggressive on video. None will transform the 3.6L into a V8 sound obviously

Tread Edition linked below, not trail.

No shit. How many of them are convertible? This whole "JeEp sHoULd oNLy bE uSeD oFf-roAd" shtick is tiring. You're stating something that is 1. Obvious, and 2. Contributes nothing to the conversation because he already owns the truck.

Welcome just drive it for awhile and then you will know what you need or want. Mojave is pretty damn capable from factory. All the lights you are talking about are either for looks or for driving off road, are you going off road at night?
Good choice on the Mojave, be careful very careful, you will be spending a lot on stuff you don’t even know it exists today!…..Jack

I would say a Sunrider should be up there in priority.

I would also look into a method to lock your hood being that it's accessible by anyone. I use this which works with your factory key.

I also bought this cup holder on sale for Prime Day a year or two ago and I can't picture life without it.

I also utilize my roof basket by Smittybilt very often. Doesn't interfere with the Sunrider/Freedom Panels and provides a tie-down point for long items

I chose to stay with stock size tires for gas mileage and handling on my '20 Overland, but did add 2" mammoth wheel spacers for "poke" and side flare extensions that cover the tires edges. IMO it reduced the animal cracker box appearance and makes it look less top heavy while still retaining the ride I like. The flares use the same mounting holes that have the factory removeable "push" rivets that are already in the protective fender liner. Set comes with a set of push rivets.

Fender Extensions:
They make a version for Rubicon and Mojave

I do climb rock with my gladiator. That’s why I bought a truck with the with the solid front axle. A jeep is made to be off-road. That’s where it shines. Everywhere else it gets bested by a standard suspension truck.

Sounds like a kindred spirit! After a long time putting just 2000 miles per year on my C7 Vette I traded it this spring on a 2024 Mojave X JT. I'm having a blast. Not setting it up for off road, but I have been setting it up for a snow and salt filled winter. Added side steps, mud flaps, Xpel, and DIY Woolwaxed it. Looking at tonneau covers at the moment.

I do not miss the C7 at all. Not worrying about curb height, potholes, manhole covers, etc is pretty nice. To approximate my convertible I added a Bestop Sunrider top--great mod.

Congrats. Like others have said, drive it for a bit. Look at others you see and go from there. If some lights and spacers will give you the look you're going for, then I say go fort it. It's yours and everyone's taste is different. That should give you a nice base to go from. I ended up with adding a set of factory side steps. I like them better, I don't have to step in one location and don't have to worry about rust out here in the Midwest
