So… test drove it and she’s a no. She said it’s nice, but nothing about it says jeep or feels special. Said take away the outside shell and it’s any other SUV out there. Ordering a wrangler… which is what I’d prefer anyway.

Glad you are going with the Wrangler, nothing against them and I'm sure we'll get another one in the future.

Get her a 392 ;)

Wrong site, I know….

Since getting my JT my wife has realized that her minivan is woefully inadequate. Test drove a bronco that I was pulling for but she was generally disappointed and not on board at all.

She wants the new 4 door wrangler (kids 7,11) but is worried that long term the jeep “quirks” could override the fun of having a jeep. She’s also considering the 3 row grand Cherokee L. It’s boring, but it’s better than a Honda minivan.

Anyone here own a new grand and can comment on how they like it?
Try a 4xe. We traded in the wife's MDX for it and its awesome. The fun of a jeep, but the heavy weight of the batteries low and the extra thrust make it drive better than even the mdx did solid axle and all. We routinely do 80+ on the highway with no wander.

Here's a picture with it on an aev 2" spacer lift with fox 2.0's and 35" kenda's. Still no wander and way faster than my gladiator.

This description nails it.

After you drive a Wrangler or Gladiator every other vehicle on the road just feels vanilla.

I leased my Gladiator because I wasn't sure how I'd like it after my Mustang, BRZ, or Civic. I will never have a vehicle other than a Gladiator again. Nothing beats our Gladiator or Wrangler for fun vehicles that can also be driven on the road for us. Our kids will be getting ready to drive in 15 years or so and they will get to chose between my wife's or my vehicle and we will get new ones.

The GC L is part of our plans but I am giving it a year on this platform, before pulling the trigger, to work out a few of the manufacturing and design missteps. But now that we don't need a minivan my wife will drive the GC L. We will still be getting the off road goodies that are available but it will largely be a road bound SUV.

For our off road vehicles we are ordering a Wrangler or Mojave early 2022 and then probably grabbing a Grenadier in 2023 or 2024. So we will have options for road tripping, over-landing, and crawling.

We have a 2018 Grand Cherokee which is a nice vehicle, drives really nice.

new generation interior looks great, but it's a completely new vehicle so I'd give it at least 2 years to let them figure out bugs etc, plus with the supply chain and chip shortage right now I'm not sure that you will get every tech feature.

All great stuff. She’s leaning towards a willys (4xe would be my choice but she doesn’t see the value (for her))

Wants the willys for the look. I told her she’s going about it all wrong. She needs to buy the sport S and then allow me to dump too much money into it making it look like a meaner willys.

My wife has had Grand Cherokees since the ZJ - she trades roughly every 3 years. She's had at least 3 of the WK2 platform.
She traded her 2018 for a 2021 1 year ago. She didn't want the 3 row or the L, she loves the WK2 platform so traded a bit early to be really sure she could get what she was used to.
No serious issues with ANY of our Jeeps. The worst that's happened was with her 2018 and the NAV went funky (fixed under warranty) and both batteries went bad (replaced under warranty). Never any leaks, never anything really major.
She'd do it again, she loves her Jeeps.
We've had at least 1 or 2 of every Grand Cherokee platform made and I guess now 3 since she had a 15, 18 and now a 21 of this version.
She's taken her Jeeps to her quilt retreats with the thing loaded with so many quilting and sewing things you couldn't see out the back. I'm never concerned about her being out and about with her Jeeps. Safety on these things is fantastic, she's gotten through crazy snow storms. Stable, safe, reliable.

Her current Jeep she can get 25+ mpg if she drives conservatively. Even ordinary driving she's easily getting 23+.
Again - she bought "pre-L" because we don't need a monster with seating for a huge family. It's just us. Most we ever need seating for is 5 max. She didn't want a larger or longer vehicle.
So she bought the 2021 before the L came out.

My wife has an 2018 Grand Cherokee and loves it. We would probably get the Grand Cherokee L if we were buying now. It's her daily driver and the automobile we take on road trips.

Drive the 4xe and you'll see the value. Plus with the tax credit it's the most cost effective one to get in to and you'll save money on gas. We are averaging nearly 600 miles per tank and now trending up even more with the lvl 2 plugin charger topping it off in 2 hours.

Hadn’t thought of that. Let me push that a little more this morning. I don’t believe there are any near me so a drive may be difficult.

@bleda2002 thanks for the heads up. Was able to find one and take it for a ride. Not the trim we would want, but that’s not what we were looking at anyway. She’s now leaning that way.

My wife has been driving Honda Odyessys for the last ten plus years and was tired of driving a mini van. We have a family of seven so options are limited. Had a GCL for two weeks because of my JT's axle leak. She loved it. So we got a Laredo GCL a couple weeks or so ago. About 600 miles in and no issues so far and we both enjoy driving it.
