Did a veterans appreciation ceremony and gave a demo of WWII equipment and firearms this past Saturday at the Historic Fort Wayne in Detroit Michigan. Cool fort built in 1845 and most of the buildings are still standing and in fairly good shape. Had a few M1 Garand's, M1918 BAR, and M1928 Thompson SMG from our group represent. Dummy grenade launching from a M1 is always a fun thing to do.

The Vietnam vets were surprised on how heavy the BAR was / is along with 12 20round mags of 30-06 ammo and packs. Their M14's and M16's were tiny compared to the BAR.

what I find comical, is my son will eat anything. There is a company out of Republic of Slovak that has nitche market and has cornered the market on reproduction rations. Mitchell enjoyed his dinner K ration with cheese and crackers. Funny how it included 4 small Chesterfield cigarettes and matches but never asked for an age verification when he ordered them. The gum and chocolate and gum was good as well.

My favorites are a few I wish I hadn't parted with:

A factory ammo tack driving Remington XP-100 in .221 Fireball.

A stainless Ruger Mk2 slab side with matching red dot.

A Benelli M3 Super 90 that would cycle anything in semi auto mode even when my M1 S90 wouldn't.

A gorgeous glossy Browning BPS with an action like glass and perfect proportions.

I recenly bought a Springfield XDM Elite 10mm and it's quickly becoming a favorite gun of mine. Lots of power and just a hoot to shoot.

More WWII reenactment pics. The M1918 BAR is a beast. At 20lbs just for the rifle, I don't know how our GI's carried this thing. It kicks my ass every time I shoot it. My son seems to handle it ok at times.

Keeping history alive is what matters. Glad these young fellah's understand and appreciate what our greatest generation went through
