I had the same basic issue. I didn’t trust any deal made for an order at any in-state dealer (MSRP or above), and I also didn’t trust that any offer they made on my trade would be honored when the Gladiator arrived. Instead I ordered from Gupton and sold my trade outright. While I lost the sales tax advantage, over half of that amount was made up by the private-sale amount on the vehicle. The Gupton deal was $thousands better than any local deal, and just importantly the information in this thread gave me reason to believe their deal would be as advertised and easy. And it was exactly that. I’ll definitely buy from them again based on their willingness to sidestep the “normal” deceptive dealer sales practices.
That sometimes works, but I have a feeling in Iowa, where these aren't popular, I'd have real trouble selling mine for $2,000 more to offset the taxes. So I have to sit and figure if it's still worth it to trade. IF they offer me 42 and I could sell for 44 - I'd take their 42 because of the tax and the pain in the butt trying to sell here in Iowa. Tire kickers, "will you deliver it", "I'll give you 30", that sort of bunk. Iowa isn't a haven for small trucks like Gladiator. If it was a full size truck I could probably sell it today - farm country and all.
It's too bad I can't at least get a semi-firm number on trade, even if it's lower, because now I have no clue - will it be 38 or will it be 42? Roll the dice! The long delay getting ordered Jeeps is not helping.

Worse - blue is not a popular color. You don't see blue on the lots, and you don't see "loaded" Gladiators.
I've looked using Jeep's site (which keeps trashing out when you try to change zip codes as it limits you to 250 miles and I want to search UNlimited miles. I don't care if it's in Reading, PA - I want to see it)
I've used cars dot com and I find nothing in blue with these options. They are all missing LED lighting and the safety group and the popular group, which is weird.

If there was one on the lot, it would be easy. But two months - you have more age and more miles and the numbers are iffy in two months.

The reason I took a less than private sale amount on my old truck is exactly because of this hassle. I've sold several motorcycles private party...and this is the exact scenario I was met with every time. Or the post sale discount requests, Hey 3 months after I bought this bike the battery is dead or I noticed a scratch on the underside of one of the mufflers can you refund $XX.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone contributing to this thread. After discovering this forum and thread 2-3 weeks ago, I have officially placed an order with Gupton this week and I'm supper excited! I'll be flying in and driving back to Oklahoma City after taking delivery.

If you would have asked me 2 months ago I would have told you I was going to end up in a MT Tacoma TRD Pro. After doing research and a number of test drives, I'm very happy to be joining the Jeep family once again. Had a lifted 93 YJ that I loved about 15 yrs ago. My Gladiator will be a white diesel Rubi.

MSRP is Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price
If you've ever seen "The Price is Right" it's what they use on everything from cat food to bicycles.
It's the price on the window sticker. What the manufacturer is suggesting it be sold at.

"Invoice" is " Factory Wholesale Price, FWP"
Not sure what the calculation involved is to get there, obviously dealers aren't paying that because they'd be losing money to sell for anything under what they pay........
Someone here likely knows...........

@ShadowsPapa Daniel is off on Wednesdays, fyi. He doesn't reply to anything on those days.

As you've outlined, Gupton isn't the best at trade in values. I realized this and sold my prior truck via private party because of this. Got a couple grand more but the only way it worked was me having a third vehicle to drive until my ordered JT showed up.

Walter replied yesterday (a pleasant surprise and knowing how many forum members are dealing with them, I was going to be patient until next week and ask again) anyway, he nicely (but in a business way) explained the whole thing.
Selling privately here is a royal pain and frankly, I'd stay put on mine before dealing with the car/truck buying morons around here.
Too bad I'm needing to rely on a trade, Gupton would be the way to go. I'd give them the word and ask how they wanted their money today if it wasn't for that.
Now if my brother wanted to buy it and we made a deal right now but I keep it until the new arrives, that's different, but he's got a garage full and just had a Wrangler brought in from the east coast (a used one)

Punch your VIN into Carmax and Carvana (carvana hasn't been close to carmax prices lately) to get an idea of what they would give you.
I agree, trade to Gupton isn't gonna be the best deal (although it would still probably be better than trading to an MSRP dealer!).
Go ahead and order what you want, then when you get the call, take a day off and take your current JT to a couple dealers and measure them against the CarMax offer and then dump it to the highest bidder - take an uber to the airport and wind up in Nashville ?.
Exactly what I did - Once I got the call, Got a CarMax offer, drove it there, got a check, took an uber to the airport, got to Gupton and drove home. Do it! :)

Already did that - posted the results in a thread I started a while back. Lowballs for sure. Not even close to MMR and other values. driveway was thousands higher. I wasn't surprised, though, as in the past those two were way below the value of my Silverado, too)
The problem is, my situation isn't going to work unless I know going in what the spread will be. If I ordered, I'm locked in, and if I can't get close to my needed goal on selling mine, I'm stuck short.

Spoke with Renee this evening. My loaded Rubicon (ordered 3/1) was delivered. Pretty happy about it only taking 6 weeks. She said they have had over 250 (!!!) vehicles delivered recently so they are slammed trying to get deliveries scheduled and customers their vehicles. Sounded like she's going to send out a lot of notification emails tomorrow. Fingers crossed for everyone else. She said it would be a week before they could do my delivery appointment because they are trying to go in the order they arrived. I went ahead and scheduled for next weekend. Pretty excited its so close.

Did you check the status with Jeep Chat during your wait? If so did they show it moving along?

I ordered a Rubicon on 2/28 and Jeep Chat always says "scheduled for production", but I've seen that the information they give out is often way behind. I'm hoping that's the case and mine is in that delivery group.

In the end, it's your call....
Going through Gupton will save you thousands compared to an MSRP dealer... So it gives you MUCH more room with your trade (i.e. even if you don't get top dollar, you'll come out ahead) and you'd have a brand new 2022....
Decisions, Decisions....

Congrats!! That's a pretty cool feeling when you finally get the call!

They are crazy for sure, but Renee and Daniel did NOT seem flustered or phased at all when I was there - It was just a relaxed downhome atmosphere...

They told me “it left the plant” and to check with my dealer Wednesday.
