Hey everyone! I’ve got a 2020 Overland with 32k miles. Over the last 2 months I’ve had check engine light’s with associate braking system lights randomly come on and go out on their own. I’ve come to the only dealership that is authorized for warrant work. I’m currently on my 4th visit. Here’s a short synopsis of what has happened:

Problem: Check engine light, traction control light, traction control off light, emergency brake light, ABS light, service 4wd light, and the digital speedo will pop up with “- - -“ All visits had the same lights. Most of them would clear after a few starts and check engine light would go out after a couple days.
1st visit - Downloaded multiple DTC’s, performed battery tests and said the auxiliary battery was bad, so they changed it and good to go. The battery cause

2nd visit: 5 days later - Multiple DTC’s again. This time they said the main battery was under charged and they did a 74 minute charge and it’s good to go.

3rd visit: 6 days later: Another slew of DTC’s (29) This time they said the ABS control module needed to be replaced. 2 weeks out on parts. Came back 10 days later and they changed the ABS module and good to go.

4th visit (3 weeks later): The current list of DTC’s below. There’s 53 DTC’s present. Waiting to see what the dealership says.

I didn’t purchase and extended warranty and I feel like the dealership was purposefully doing minor “repairs” until I’m out of my warranty in 4k miles. I called Chrysler prior to the 3rd visit and they said they could provide technical assistance to make sure the dealer is following the correct maintenance protocols. Depending on what happens today I might be calling again.

Does anyone have experience with issues such as this? Or know what could be causing all of these DTC’s across multiple ECU’s? They seemed to be following the braking system which was why I was sure that the ABS module was a good fix.

Any advice is appreciated. Cheers!

Ouch man… sorry to hear this… I’m not an electric expert here… but hopefully we can get some traction from a bump for you.

Abs faults could very well be a battery issue. Many modules rely on battery voltage and will trigger faults if the voltage is not up to par.

Just curious, what is your battery voltage before starting the engine?

If you are not confident in their ability to fix it, then trade it in on another, or purchase an extended warranty.

Sounds like low voltage to me still.... These Jeeps will act really weird with low voltage. I am almost at 3 years of ownership and 42K miles and I just had to change both batteries. If your ESS does not work, then, your aux battery is bad (aux14)

I experienced this same issue and had to take my jeep to 2 different dealerships in shop for roughly 2 months. Got jerked around by jeep as their customer service sucks. First dealership couldn’t fix it and wouldn’t work on it because they couldn’t get it duplicate the issue. 2nd dealership I had to drive it around and get it to duplicate so they could work on it, they chased the issue for over a month and finally came back and said there was a connection issues in a harness near the passenger front wheel something about the pins in it

To have that many dtc, it's definitely a loose/bad connection somewhere, or short to ground. I had a similar instance after going a lil to deep too many times. Had a wet connector that wouldn't let me start vehicle. 1 week later after drying out, I was good, cleared codes, and drove fine... till I got sand in motor at a much later date.

I believe I had 12.5vdc prior to start and while it was starting it dropped to 11.9. Running voltage was 14v with alternator charging.

Do you have any paperwork that identifies which connector? Im thinking it might be something similar on mine. But every instance this has popped up on mine I haven’t been hitting any bumps or jarring the truck. I’ve been sitting at stop signs, just starting the truck, and driving straight and level and the lights would pop on.

I’m in Alaska so it’s been super cold, then warm in my garage and now we’re getting breakup so it’s been wet. But dries out again in my heated garage. There’s no predictability with it. Between “battery” issues there was about 5 days in between. After the ABS module change it was 3 weeks until it came back.

I will check and see if I have it

Glad I found this thread!! I'm having the same issue with the intermittent ABS/service 4wd light coming on and then light goes off. I haven't taken it to the dealer since the service manager I was talking to told me if there's no faults they can't scan anything and would try to reproduce the issue. And it doesn't always come on. I took a 290 road trip light never turned on. Frustrated as I've had to cancel our Utah trip because I don't want to be stuck with no 4WD. I'm going to call a 2nd dealership tomorrow and see what they say. ?

I really doubt that if you had any of those dash lights that the dealer couldn’t download any faults. I used my own code reader and only saw 6 codes, but the dealer downloaded 53. But for me, they did a PCM flash update on the 4th visit and that’s been okay so far. But they also changed the brake control module last time and it was good for almost a month. It’s been 3 weeks, so if it lasts a couple more weeks I’ll believe it could be fixed. Good luck with yours. Definitely make sure they’re doing their job.

I'd imagine they have some scanner that could scan for codes that have been triggered even though they are not present. Made an appointment for next week on Monday ? , lets hope the dealership can find out what's going on. It's frustrating to be out somewhere when this error code is triggered and I can't use 4wd ugh.
