If that's a Sport S without max tow, it's 3.73 gears.I did not. I saw 8th less often, but I figured that was to be expected given the (slightly) taller tires. They're also wider & softer. More aerodynamic drag and more rolling resistance. I aired them up to 37-38 lbs, but on a couple of real cold mornings (and "real cold" here in SC is 30* or so LOL) the pressures would drop to 32-33 lbs or so... and I could feel the extra drag... noticed that I saw 8th even less. When the tires heat up and pressures are where they should be, I see 8th more. Generally I'll see 8th on flat ground up to about 70-75 MPH (if I'm remembering correctly). Anything above that, it drops to 7th due to the wind resistance.
It's been over a year, so I assume the adaptive shifting has... adapted by now. I wonder if I'd have anything to gain be resetting it at this point?
My Overland has 3.73 gearing so it's a close to direct comparison.
I don't see 8th a lot unless the wind is down, the ground is fairly flat. The faster I drive, the less it's able to stick in 8th.
AND - that's with the stock diameter tires (32.2") but slightly wider than stock because I removed the H/T tires and put on General A/Ts
With Rubicon take-offs (depends on the tire site - some say 32.7 and others say 32.8) it also tended to stay out of 8th more often. Weight matters, rolling resistance (wider footprint) and you've done the same as snuck up to a slighter higher gear ratio with the taller tires.
4 things working against that thing - rolling resistance, weight, and drag (air hitting the fronts of the tires), and changing the RPM band for a given road speed (requiring more torque)
I dropped over 1 mpg and changed how easily mine can resist downshifting just going to A/T tires that were slightly wider but still the same diameter.
I also found that I needed to fudge the tire size number a tad to get it just right. I used "diameter" to get close, then tested it a couple of times and tweaked that until I got the trip odometer and the GPS odometer to line up just right.
