How is this for a wear pattern (Yukon gears)

Thought you all might like to see what these Yukon gears with roughly 60,000 miles on them over the 4 years they have been installed looked like.
Started to get a whine from the rear end. Whine had been there for a bit and finally got into my guy that does my gear installs, he has probably done 1000's over the years and done others for me. Had them replaced with a set of Dana Spicer gears and all is quiet again.
Now I need to pop the front open and look at them, hoping they do not need replaced.

Any diagnosis on what went wrong? Looks like something had to have shifted or something if I’m seeing the wear pattern correctly (looks like it’s all on the drive side of the ring bs being equal on drive and coast?)

No visible reason, he had never seen one like that either. Basically comes down to overloading, low gear lube or installation issue, It started out quiet and I know the oil level was correct as I had recently checked it.
Honestly, I am suspicious of manufacturing. Have read some stories from that time of purchase and installation.

I’m not a car mechanic, but if this were a helicopter transmission input quill, I’d say the gear backlash was not shimmed correctly.

That appears to be bad metal on the drive side I see flaking . Coast side looks clear . This yukon thing is cropping up more and more . Most of the time the pinions break their teeth off. 4.56 or 4.88? Bad steel.

Kind of looks like some gears with a bad heat treatment I've seen, but those wouldn;t normally make it 60K

Would be interesting to know what the surface hardness of the failed set is.
Any machine shops near you that could test?
Its really easy with right equipment

Yes that is what U heard they was bought and the ones the bought them shipped the manufacturer to rice town

Unfortunately I left them at the shop. Figured Yukon could care less seeing as they are 4 years old and 60,000 miles on them.
