How long do you plan to keep this truck?

I buy each truck knowing it will be my forever truck, the last truck I'll ever need, will last me forever.
And generally that's been not too hard to imagine because I put so few miles on my pickup - last one was 6700/year, the Ford before that I sold with a bit over 80,000 miles and owned it 16 years, that's 5,000/year.
This truck was again my forever truck - don't drive a truck all that much, figured less than 7,000/year, will last me a very long time. My wife said when I bought it - this will be your last truck, then.
I already have over 9600 miles on it in less than a year.
Now I'm concerned about mods as I may wear it out and have tons of miles on it and end up trading it in a few years.

I joke with my wife, we will probably give this truck to our grandson in 13yrs when he is 16. we had our JK for 7 years and it had 39k miles, so if we keep up that pace it will only have roughly about 80k miles in 13 years!

While I love my Gladiator, and didn’t purchase it with the intention on keeping it short term, COVID-19 has affected my business and income and I’m considering returning it to stock and selling it. Thinking I wouldn’t take a bath on it considering used car market seems to be strong right now. Sadly I’d have a bunch of mods, used and new, that I’d probably loose on. Figured I’d drive something cheap for a year or two and check out the new Bronco and what Jeep does to keep up.

My goal is to keep a Jeep for about 2-3 years, it I usually double that. I’m not super thrilled with the gearing on this manual, Gladiator, which makes me more inclined to say that I’ll be ready to trade about 12 months after a new power train is available (diesel, V8, or hybrid)...of course, I’d need to add a manual Wrangler or commuter Accord to make the shift to automatic palatable

I keep all my cars forever. I’m a car hoarder and desperately need an intervention. I still have my 96 Cherokee, which is my dog car. I have my 06 Wrangler, which to this day, is still my favorite car. My 16 renegade is my daily driver. It’s a manual 1.4 liter and a hoot to drive. And now I have a mall crawler Overland to drive when I expect traffic. Yea, I need an intervention. Oh yea, I have 3 cars from the 60s, a farm truck Ram 1500 and two motorcycles. And of course one very special, understanding, beautiful, patient wife. ( who has several cars herself). Jesus, now I sound like a Delta Bravo!

I’m in my 60’s. Since I have the 6-speed manual and likely can’t replace it I’ll probably drive it until one of us eventually fails. I’d say another 40 years is about right.

My ultimate goal is to die on my 102ed birthday, while making love with my new wife, who is so distraught that she has to cancel her photo shoot for the 2061 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. After that, my great-great grand kids can fight it out for the Jeep.

Hopefully 10 years, then the aftermarket warranty runs out. Being that this is a truck and a Jeep I don't see needing another vehicle.
Future mods consist of 33's and possibly different wheels. Otherwise, small mods, like phone mounts, are around the corner.

I'll keep it until the end, one of the last ICE trucks with a manual that will be supercharged. My mods are based on jeepspeed and ultra4 class. I live in SoCal and romp in the desert, a lot, so I am building my truck to have 12in wheel travel with a gearing that matches the ratio of max tow. The supercharged is just my nut at the fun I'm already having. I am not doing mod that are not specific to functionality. For example I'm not dropping$2k on fenders and fender liners when my 35's will never hit the stock fenders to the point of damage because my lift/shocks cannot compress enouyto cause damage. But I will invest in high end bumpstops so I can rip across whoops without spilling my beer, champagne, black coffee with whiskies, or whatever important intoxicant that is not worth spilling.

I’m with the folks that said I’ll keep it until I die. Always enjoyed Jeeps and it reminds me of a CJ8 which is my favorite Jeep well besides the gladiator. Even my fiancée said this is my last vehicle. Looks like I’ll go when the truck goes... might be from my fiancée.

a fully electric gladiator with 500+ mile range could force a trade in for me But that likely won’t happen for quite some time

I honestly expect fully electric versions in 10 years, especially with the climate rules in other countries that are strongly pushing for electrification of vehicles. Once its built for another market, no reason not to build it for here too. I switched all my lawn equipment to electric a couple years ago and have since been convinced of its superiority over ICE. Its much lighter, rips just as hard as gas and is virtually maintenance free. 10yr from now the tech. will only be better.
