Seems all sting gray required bedliner. I was wanting to do linex later, but didn’t want to wait on sting gray any longer, lol. Guess it is what it is.

Is there a rhyme or reason of which trim levels or options/packages trigger the necessity for the bedliner to be ordered?
I did LOTS of builds on line before I placed my order. The JT is not actually for me, but for my wife so originally I thought why would she want a Rubicon, so I started lower down the ladder...NO build I did force the bed liner.

no builds force you to order the bed liner on the jeep website ..but right now they do when you go to place the order

I am trying to order a Sting gray rubicon and originally planned to go the route of getting it sprayed by line x. But now I think I am going to confirm my order on Monday with the bed liner just to get it in because I am impatient.

I hope it turns out to be the right decision and it doesn’t slow down my order too much...

Yes, I ordered my Stingray on Saturday and the dealer told me the bed liner is showing up on Stingray as a required item. He tried to remove it from the order several times but it wouldn't let him complete the order without choosing it.

1. Factory liner is little over 1/2 thickness of linex.

2. Bedliner whether factory or aftermarket add to resale value

3. Factory warranty is 3 years.....lines is lifetime nationwide.

4. Factory is put on by spraying an adhesion promoter and then coating right over factory paint. Linex is sprayed after they create a mechanical adhesion by scuffing it and then spraying. Look on YouTube for factory bedliner removal and tell me that doesnt scare you

5. Linex is 450 bucks where I'm at.
All of the above is why I went aftermarket. I went with Bullet Liner (ex Linex founder) and it's taken a beating! Lifetime guarantee is priceless due to how I plan on using the bed.

I’m going to take a stab. As another member pointed out, being stuck because there was a paint issue with his bed, so they were going to add the bed liner, and charge him, even though he didn’t want it. Maybe they are having a lot of paint issues with the bed, so as a deterrent, or cover up, they are making people order the bedliner. Just a thought.

I almost wonder if there is a restriction just to force people into buy one that is already at the dealer. I was at Criswell in MD yesterday and they had more than 15 JTs and everyone is doing custom orders.

When they force the bedliner are they including it in the price or adding the cost into the build just curious. They better not try to force you to buy it if you dont want it.

What's different between Bullet Liner and LineX?

If I recall Bullet has UV protection, so maybe a differentiator if you plan on getting a color other than black. I've read how the Linex colors fade.

Linex is 200-300 more than factory so I went with factory, to my chagrin as bedliner is in short supply and is holding up my jeep

The factory is telling the dealer that the spray in bed liner is a necessity to hide some paint defects in the bed. Mine was built on 5-15-19 and I still don't have it. It not only slowed down my order, they are telling me it will cost me a additional $441. (employee price). Total BS!

Strange they are doing this on vehicles that presumably haven't been painted yet. That would indicate they have an issue they know about with no fix currently.

It would make more sense if they already paint a batch and found the problem and decided to force the liners to correct the issue without having to respray.

Either way, forcing people to pay for an option that is used to cover a paint defect is sketchy for sure.
