Well again I say it is sorta wrong to be able to sell again to someone else a so called "new" truck that has 700 miles on it .
To me that ain't new . 700miles is a long enough period for a lot of oppsies and uh oh's , giant potholes, romping around doing burnouts etc.
Not saying that Geek did that but I am sure it has went on. Sorry but aint no way in #$!! I am buying from that place.

I'm gonna be looking at carvana to see if my current shows up there, I'm betting they will discount it a little for the miles.

My 700 miles was some mild off-roading at the beach and mostly highway. I would buy it as new myself as long as it has the "new" warranty i wouldn't care personally. But you do have a valid point. If they knocked off 1-2k for it, I'd be perfectly fine with it.

When I go for dealer parts runs, I purposefully sit in the car for 10 minutes reading the news or this forum, or making a phone call. The sales people just can’t stand it. They just want to come up to your window so badly. They’re just freaking out.

Then I get out walk straight to the parts entrance and their hearts just sink.

LOL Imma do my 500mile oil change, and be like "Yeah I was looking for a new jeep"

Purchased one of the last 2023 Diesel Rubicons (Farout Edition). Purchased in May 2024 from an out of state dealer in Oregon.

MSRP: $77,135 (crazy price)

Paid: $57,852 (25% below MSRP)

Loaded except for the color matched top. Also came ceramic coated.

I paid more than I should have and less than some have and I feel like this is ... and wish this ...would go.... and ....would stop ...... to get other......to soothe their conscience.

I suspect these things are to validate decisions in a way, sometimes.
For a small few, perhaps bragging about deal making prowess.

I assumed just curiosity. It varies wildly based on when.

And where, and what the incentives are at the time, and even beyond that. Some of the discount sellers won't talk trade. How many do the math on that for a state like Iowa where you sell your "trade" privately for 2500 over what a dealer might give, but then the tax is 2400 on the new one because you had no trade.

I find that trades get you better pricing, as long as the trade is something they can make a quick profit on. We traded a loadedCherokee Trailhawk when everyone wanted a feasibly priced 4x4. They had it sold before we even left the lot.

I find that trades get you better pricing, as long as the trade is something they can make a quick profit on. We traded a loadedCherokee Trailhawk when everyone wanted a feasibly priced 4x4. They had it sold before we even left the lot.
It's just a numbers combo. We traded in an Audi Q3 at the height of covid-inflated prices.

And of course, unless you're in the minority of cash buyers, there's another cost to add in. IIRC, before my aftermarket add-ons, maintenance, and lifter & cam job, I was under $60k.

I really don't want to add it all up. :surprised:

EDIT: My below post in not accurate. CA no longer offers a sales tax break for trade-ins.

Not sure what the sales tax code is in all the states but in California, you do not pay sales tax on the trade in amount. That alone can influence wanting to trade in a vehicle instead of selling it.

Not sure what the sales tax code is in all the states but in California, you do not pay sales tax on the trade in amount. That alone can influence wanting to trade in a vehicle instead of selling it.
Same in CO. It makes a huge difference.
