In Jan of this year paid invoice of $59602 on a MSRP of $63700 . That's in Eastern Washington and at that time in my area there were no good deals . I was also trading in a new Ram 2500 that was 3 months old with 2k miles on it and they did me a solid on the trade .

I bought a ridiculously overpriced red colored cordless shop vac at one of the big box stores early last month for $250. Was in there last week and noticed it was on sale for $199. Asked the CSR what we could do about it and she refunded the first purchase and rang me up at the current price.
The $50 difference wasn't so sexy though after it covered some silicone caulk, tapcons, and marker crayons.

Got a great deal on my JTRD which I ordered August '21 through Chapman in Philly and was fortunate enough to also hit $2k in mfr incentives on delivery in October seven weeks later.

I also called bs on a bunch of these folks. And then did some digging. And made several posts on this topic elsewhere as I felt taken advantage of during my purchase at that time.

  • 99.99% of these people saying they got xx% off MSRP are ordering from grupton and live in the south - ir they have the time and ability to travel there and drive 2,000 miles back home over a weeks time
  • location has SIGNIFICANT impacts on price, so ay comparison that does not take a specific region into consideration is only gonna get people mad and mislead them
  • MSRP is not what everyone thinks it is
  • location has SIGNIFICANT impacts on price
  • again. Location location location

Grupton deals in sale quantity. To my knowlege they have no physical dealer or service. Theyre not a normal dealer and sell in massive quantities. Comparing any other sale to them is not realistic IMO. Additionally, anywhere in the south is significantly cheaper than here in the north / Northwest. Just is what it is no matter how irritating. I was told by a particular a$$hat of a sales guy in Walla Walla washington to ‘just be happy what your being given and take it’.

But, some important things here - MSRP is not dealer cost. “Invoice” is below MSRP but still far above dealer cost. Dealer cost is different regionally due to internal regional programs. It is additionally different due to operational costs of dealerships. Meaning some places, like grupton, can afford to sell for less. Then there is hold back, which if asked you will probably be escorted out of the dealership for. And there is yet another term, i forget what, that is the actual final price of what the dealer truly pays for said vehicle. Everything above that price is 100% profit.

In other words, for grupton to sell at 15% under MSRP, they are probably still selling 15% (just a guess here) over the true cost they paid Jeep for that rig and are still making money, plus their operational costs and volume of sales lets them continue to make bank at lower prices.

so you see it is a purposefully convoluted game played to get the most money out of you. But thats the game if business.

First time building (actually, first time buying brand new period). I ordered a sport with a few options, window sticker is around $45,000. Obviously there are various dealer incentives based on location and time of year, but how much should I expect to pay in general? I feel sorta handcuffed since I ordered what I want and can't "walk away" if the deal isn't what I want, which is how I typically negotiate.

For reference, mine has shipped according to the tracker and I've got a 2.6% 72 month loan from a local FCU, just waiting on final price to sign it. Thanks y'all.
Here in the north / northwest, sale prices are straight up MSRP. There is zero negotiation. Take it or leave it. some places are even getting away with selling for way over MSRP!

Just realized. We paid 40% on top of MSRP 😈 😈 😈
Man I thought I had it bad…that sucks sorry to hear. You must be near Seattle or Cali

Same here. No negotiation, even for cash. No free car wash, nada. Tank wasnt even 1/4 full. Take it or leave it ... but heck we wanted our Appa, Gobi JTR. (Only good thing I can still sell it for what we paid last year, the few 3.6 JTR 2022s for sale are crazy priced)

🍺 true story!! Ordered here on Whidbey Jan 22- $1k under msrp for a JTRD…. Called every other dealer in the area they wanted 1-2k over msrp…. 🤯

Funny now there are a ton just sitting on lots. Slinky effect combined with economic down turn is kicking em’.

FWIW for you guys in the PNW, if you are a Boeing employee, you are eligible the FCA/Stellantis Affiliate Reward Program that will get you 1% below invoice pricing.

In Virginia, I believe this is going to be your best price. Normally 5% below invoice price.

Bought used with 1650 miles and paid sticker, but the previous owner had already installed about $4,000 in upgrades, which were all included.

Gupton is 100% a full ‘normal’ dealership with a lot and other sales staff that don’t do the Internet stuff. MSRP is nation wide MSRP but you’re right incentives can and often vary by region. Absolutely Gupton still makes money on every jeep they sell even below invoice they have to stay in business. I posted my sheet above so people could see exactly the deal I got from Gupton when I was looking at the closest to fully loaded Rubicon‘s I could find around Oklahoma City the dealers were still charging market price on Rubicon‘s they did have deals on Overland‘s and I think sports but not Rubicons they were MSRP+ so for me it was a no-brainer to get exactly what I wanted for a lot less money I spent maybe $400 in gas and my plane ticket total.

After taxes and dealer add-ons, only a few hundred under MSRP unfortunately. Still worth it 🤷🏾‍♂️

If you can get 10-15% off MSRP you're doing pretty good. I snagged 15% off but got mine in early COVID and had a $2K rebate that knocked a bunch off of the dealers already great listed price.
Same, early covid was hard to beat. On top of it they offered employee pricing and never seen before trade in values.

I also bought from Gupton ~$60k Sticker/MSRP and ~$52k sales price. I am out west and went to TN pick it up and drive back, about 50 hours of driving across 3 days while seeing Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Sturgis, Bonneville .. was a great trip with my son.

Before deciding to drive it back, I looked at shipping options that Gupton would have gladly assisted with .. it would have still been $6k cheaper than buying from a local dealer.

I found Gupton through this forum and felt there was no reason I should pay more for the same product from a local dealer.
