Even my 2002 Silverado would stay on after shutting the truck off. It must be a ram/jeep thing, neighbor has a 1 month old 1 tom ram I drove the other day and I had to turn it on each time I restarted it
BMW you have to turn on every time.

Neither the 2017 GMC Sierra Denali, nor the 2017 GMC Canyon SLT that I had would keep cruise on when power cycled. The only vehicles I've ever owned that the cruise stayed enabled had the toggle switch on the column stalk.

Is it too hard to press the cruise button a split second before pressing set? Press cruise with the tip of your thumb, then just roll your thumb down to set... What am I missing?
Not hard, just inconsistent. So you're driving the jeep after driving something else that doesn't require two steps. Then you hit set. Then you start losing speed on the interstate. Then for me, I have to downshift to get back up to speed again.

I do want to say, it's not a huge deal, it's just a little annoying. I think that's what everyone is saying. Just looking to see if anyone has found a way around it. I'll explore the jscan adaptations ar some point when I get a chance. If it can't be done, it's not the worst thing ever.

It's not like keeping it on all the time is going to require us to fill up the cruise control fluid or anything like that!

I don't know... even blinker fluid price is going through the roof right now!

Both of my Silverado's i had before my JT and my wife's Acadia all keep theirs on after power cycles.
I was going to mention GM. As far as I know they are the only ones that do this. Every time I get in my Cherokee or Gladiator after driving my Impala I forget I have to turn it on.

My 2005 Xterra that I traded in would also turn off the cruise when the ignition was turned off so no biggie for me..

It's just a convenience thing for me and muscle memory from my Silverado i traded in to get the JT. The other oddball thing is that jeep put the cruise buttons on the right half of the steering wheel were Chevy was on the left...so that's backwards to me yet as well!
None of the car-switching events in my household are as jarring as me slamming my clutch foot into my wife's car's dead pedal a few times every time I drive it.

Work car is a Chevy, wife's car is a Ford, I have a JTR...go to change the radio volume and next thing I know I'm doing 80...oops wrong car.
Reminds me of how long it took to get used to my 2014 Ram and the dial to set the transmission into gear. Took a while to make that muscle memory, and then annoyed the snot out of my wife when the first thing I did when getting in her vehicle to drive was turn the air conditioning fan up to full blast. Ha!

My son relocated the start switch on my TJ. It was running when the wife took off with it. When she went to restart, nothing. Called the wrecker to get it home. My son was finally home the the jeep arrived and he showed her how to start it. I still wonder why the original was modified.

I don’t think the Tazer will let you get around this either, but the Tazer does use the cruise control buttons (Resume, Set +/-) as programmable shortcut buttons, so if the memory of prior CC status stayed engaged that would make using the the shortcuts difficult (ie the programmed shortcuts don’t work when CC is on since the buttons are then serving actual CC functions).

Related to this, mine has the adaptive cruise control and I find it funny that there are separate buttons to engage both the adaptive and regular CC. Not sure of a scenario in which I would want the regular over the adaptive so seems redundant?

My wifeā€˜s 2016 Honda has an on/off switch on wheel. CC will remain powered on. The last 2007 Mazda we had retained the power setting as well.

My last two Fords required turning CC back on after a power cycle.

I think it’s a smart design choice, so that drivers that don’t like adaptive cruise can use traditional cruise. But they still get the advantage of forward collision warning.

As others have said, I've never had a vehicle NOT reset the cruise control when I turn the vehicle off and back on. This includes a chevy or two. Cars, trucks, motorhomes have all turned the cruise off.

There have been times I wished it would retain the on status and remember the set speed. But I can see where that could be a safety issue especially if you're not the next person to drive the car. But how big a deal is it to press a button on the steering wheel?
