I take no offense to being a mall crawler, I own it. Even thought about getting MLCRWLR as a license plate. To me its like someone calling me a 'cracker', is that the best you got?
I think that the majority of people don’t buy Wranglers (not sure about Gladiators yet because there aren’t that many around my city yet) and Jeeps in general for the “Trail Rated” adventure vehicles they could be. In my area, there are more stock than there are not. Most have stock wheels, tires etc. I think message boards only attract a subset of people who mod their Jeeps, and take them off road. I have yet to ever meet a person who takes their rigs off-road and isn’t aware of the off-road community or club presence online.

If it weren’t for people who “mall crawl”, sales wouldn’t be what they are. If 90 percent of the Rubicons at the dealership I bought from weren’t selling, they wouldn’t be bringing them in to sell in the first place and I probably wouldn’t have gotten the great price I did because they were selling in volume.

I’m glad that Jeeps are great for everyone whether they are used for rock crawling or owned my some mom. Like I said previously, the more they sell these things, the greater the used market is in the future that haven’t been beat up. I still find great buys for old TJs with low mileage and never modded or off-roader either. Thankful for anyone who supports Jeeps because it’s a loyal customer base and competition (Bronco) which will keep FCA producing well into the future.

It’s just so nice driving with the top off whether you’re on road or off the view in the mountains is incredible
I don’t disagree, but there’s plenty of reasons to have a JL/T other than taking the top off. If that’s all you want, but a convertible car.

To be frank, I like the top off (freedom panels) on a nice day, I lIke the pickup bed, I like the ease of the truck for parking, I like the off-road ability for the snow (when I ski) and the sand (when I beach) so the Gladiator suites me better than a ridge line or avalanche or Toyota p/u or a convertible car and I can take the top off too (big selling point for me). So yeah when I head to Santa Cruz the top comes off and I can enjoy the view, the salt air and ocean breeze. Yosemite has a completely different “feel” driving through with the top down. Next mod will be the sun rider to make the whole thing easier. But as said before, to each their own

LMAO! .. The names and descriptions of Jeep owners go far and wide like no other vehicle ever. This has been going on for decades.
Let's look at a few.

Mall Crawler.-- Fully equips their Jeep to cruise the Malls to impress the people who otherwise wouldn't be impressed by the sight of a Jeep.

Poser. --- Fully equips a Jeep to travel miles out a dirt road to find a suitable rock to put a wheel on. Usually trying to impress Mall Crawlers.

Dirt Road warrior.-- Partially equips a Jeep to blaze dirt roads with doors and top off, drinkin a cold one while jammin to Jason Aldean. Takes pics after to show 3 inches of dirt in Jeep. Usually trying to Impress Posers.

Raw Talent Jeeper. -- One that takes a mildly modded Jeep and finds an off camber ATV trail to scrape the roof or roll bar and create a little body damage. Well, because chic's dig it. Usually gets the attention of Dirt Road warriors.

From there we go to the Easy trail riders to the Hard core Rock crawlers. ( BlueRibbon Coalition decals ) usually indicates a level of off road talent. Not always. And about 100 other categories in between. Many different strokes for different folks here. But no matter where you are in the Jeep world, you're in a Jeep. And that's all that counts. Happy Trails.

FYI-- Good organization to join if you want to help preserve places to ride.

Let’s see, this guy has it all (bumper, roller fairlead, light up high, lights down low, big lift kit, bigger tires) $1000s of dollars of “cool” off road stuff. However he is missing the one thing he really needs... A WINCH! And if that isn’t enough toss in the overheating of the angry Jeep and vision constructing windshield plastic and you have a nobodies mall crawler. See reference photo. Oh and of course, clean as a whistle where one doesn’t often clean!

To each their own man....I don't like the look of this but obviously he does. Besides, just because you buy a Jeep doesn't mean you need to rock crawl it. Also, 99% of the Jeeps you see with winches have never used it more than once....so buying a winch and adding a bunch of weight to your front end doesn't make you any less of a poser.

I've ordered a fully loaded JT Rubicon and factory Mopar lift. I've already dropped $3k CAN on 37" Nittos and wheels. By the time I've bought tube doors and some other stuff I want I'm into this thing for around $70k. I'm not going to totally baby it but this will be my daily driver which means commuting and then weekend fishing, wheeling, camping. I'm buying the JT for the look, not the capabilities. Besides, if you really cared about rock crawling why would you even get a JT with the long wheel base.

Not sure what category I'm in. But I am recalling a T-shirt I had back in high school that read "Do it in a Jeep!". One day at school a very attractive young lady classmate of mine looked at my shirt, then looked up and me and said, "That could be difficult". But she did seem to be intrigued. Yeah, I should have followed up on that opportunity, but I didn't actually own a Jeep at the time. ;) Oh, if knew then what I know now!

I neve rock rock crawl these days, not with a new vehicle with a long wheelbase like you said. I usually overland , hit snow and sand. Mudding is a big deal here as well. In all these a winch would be a great insurance policy. I just found it funny That of all the things he bought, ($$$) he didn’t get the one thing that could really help him
In any off road scenario, a winch! oh he did get the roller fairlead though so it looks like he has a winch sorta. Anyway, I will say again as you said, to each their own! Sure got a topic that people enjoy commenting in, so that’s good! Have a fantastic day!

He probably has a bag of kitty litter behind the seat to get out of those tough spots

So by all rights I would align most with the Mall rock crawling poser warrior raw Jeeper tribe. Because to be honest, there is something about almost every categorization that I can align with at some level but I no less love and appreciate my Jeep Gladiator. The beauty and reason I bought it is that it embraces a little bit of each, as stated above. Yes, I am ok to be referred to as a mall crawler or any other verbiage one wishes to use to describe me. I can say that of those listed, the only one I am not as aligned with is damaging my Jeep for the sake of scars. If it happens, well it sucks and I will fix it because of my vanity in wanting the look. I will say that I thank each person that opted to buy a Jeep, it is because of those that purchased one that we have the aftermarket and resale values which are higher than any other vehicle. Now that is something!

I don't fit into any specific category... I'm just a life-long dirt lifer that happens to own a Jeep... I've also got Chevy's, Fords, & Dodges. I'm just an enthusiast.

My 2 boys love my Gladiator and that's all that matters to me.

And I don't care about getting anyone's approval or attention, but I will say in the short 4 months of ownership, my Gladiator has garnered more "nice car / truck!" than any of the other vehicles I've owned (and I've owned some nice cars).

No matter where you take it, it's fun. :jk:

The Gladiator puts a twist on everything, at least for me. I am using mine as a truck. Farm truck/work truck. It tows on a regular basis, hauls wood for BBq, does construction work. On the weekends when it is nice, the family and I ride around with the top off and sometimes we do not stop when the road runs out
