Can't see spending $58,000 for a Mid-Size Jeep Pickup when I can get a Fullsize RAM with a Hemi for the same or even less but still there are those diehard Jeep fans that will pay the price.

I think its well stated being your correct about a "mid size" over "full size". And really not a true value to value comparison since the full size truck will do more. If I had only a truck and or no truck I would opt for a full size truck. Even if the Gladiator was less money you would be sacrificing the space so even in that thought process you would be more apt to get the full size. Its no different than buying a Mustang, Camaro, Challenger for you family vehicle over a 4 door sedan. What only makes sense in car, suv and truck buying is what works for your budget and circumstances. My .02 cents for the day.

So just to clarify, the "price" everyone seems to be fixated on is for a fully loaded Rubicon.....there will be Sport and Sport S versions out soon that are closer to the "price" everyone seems to think these should be going for...trolls and Non Jeep owners don't get it, and i understand, my wife doesn't get it, but she doesn't post in a JT Forum about how "pricey" the Fully Loaded JT's are....like I mentioned in a prior post, Full Size truck fans, mosey over to those Forums.......this is a Gladiator Forum meant to share info about the vehicle and mods, not debate the cost of them!

JLs don't seem to be selling well either and sitting. The JKs flew off of the lots. I think FCA over priced and over produced the JL and has now over priced the Gladiator.
This is the case 100%. A JLUR with the exact same options as my JKUR is $10,000 more in a period of 5 years. Thats an inflated price of $2K more per year! I know the economy is good right now but thats crazy inflation. My payroll has seen that kind of % gain to offset it.

The JKs were increasing in price 2-3 times a year and people kept buying them. I think the big jump in price to the JL was the deal breaker. Adding 3-5K to an already pricey vehicle wasn't a smart move.

I had an almost fully loaded 2013 JKRU and priced a 2019 JLRU with the same options. It was only a 3k difference MSRP to MSRP and the JLRU had stuff STD that wasn't an option back then. I think you might be a little bit wrong in your numbers.

EDIT: Nope its $10K like I thought as I forgot to add Leather.

-Rubicon
-V6
-Auto
-Cold Weather Package
-Infotainment / Upgraded Headunit
-Trailer Tow Package
-Billet Silver Color
-Color Matched Hard Top
-Body Colored Flares
-Leather Seats

MSRP on Jeep.com = $52,010

MSRP on my window Sticker = $41,970

The options listed out are no longer the same packages but that basically the options needed to get the same gear.

Will that full sized ram have lockers, sway bar disconnect, leather interior, 8.4 satnav and all that other stuff? There's tons of overlap in pricing, but you can get a gladiator for $35k, $41k with the max tow package. I don't know why people are trying to compare a fully loaded out Gladiator to a mid end or low end full sized pickup, of course the loaded out one is more. But compare it to a fully loaded out ram with all options. Or, more realistically, a Power Wagon, which is the only Ram that comes with comparable equipment. Those things aren't cheap, either. I know, I looked at one. They can haul 1600lbs and tow 10000lbs, so not really a whole lot more capable vs. the 1200/7000 of a Rubicon. Plus, they ride like a dump truck and suck fuel like they were built by opec and are too big to fit down half of the trails a Jeep can. That said, they're a better truck. So if you want a truck first and a 4x4 2nd, get a Power Wagon or a Ram Rebel or something. If you want a 4x4 first and a truck 2nd, the Gladiator fits the bill. I don't need a truck every day, I need it the once a month I tow my airstream or go to the dump, and the Gladiator does that, and better than my JLUR did. If I needed a truck every day, then I'd probably have gone with the Power Wagon instead.

Not everyone wants or needs a full size truck. I know I don't. I've had a 1st Gen Tacoma for almost 20 years now. It's almost a "compact" truck compared to what's out there now. I have never felt I needed "more" truck, except more seating, hence my interest in the JT. When I see a full-size truck trying to find a parking spot, I know I don't want a full-size truck. I have absolutely no interest in a full-size truck.

My old post

"I built a new JL with as close to the same equipment as my JK as I could. It was 46,730 vs. 40,980 in 2013. That is about 6000 increase. Plus, the JL has many things my JK didn't in that 46,000 price as well. The JL is much nicer as a base model then the JK was.

The option list is a big factor in everyone thinking of the price increase. There are more options now. So if you fully load it you paid more.

Using your 6300 as a ref. The price increase is really on par with others. The difference is that people love to mod thier Jeeps. The factory adding those mods in the option list so you don't have to spend another 10 grand after you get it home. "

6000 for mine.

Yea its really dependent on how many options you had on your JKU. The problem for me is to replace my current ride with a similar equipped JTR is that its $12K more due to the added premium of the JT over the JLU and that dosen't even include things like LED lights which at this price point should be standard IMO (same with steel bumper all around).
