Inane question

Can dealers take on fees if you custom order it, or is it locked in since you can see what is, is
Did you sign to any purchase order or agreement that outlined the deal and expected financials? If not, the deal is still technically in the wind and they can try to pull anything after the fact if you let them.

Been a few posts of people supposedly ordering with just verbal or loose email traffic with their salesman and dealerships hoping on a wing and a prayer they get what they think they are getting, to only have something misconstrued, changed or added after the fact.

FCA is in it to make money - if they price it so there are none on the lots and they all sell immediately, they priced it way too low. Richmond area has 4 listed for sale in the area on cars.com. Either local dealers aren't able to get any stock or have priced them way too low. Contrast to that, there are 54 Tacomas for sale in the area. You tell me which is priced too high.
Ok we need a point in time to highlight the distinction.

If they have unsold 2020s on the lot while 2021s are on the lot... Would that be too high pricing? I think we agree they can set a too low price point. My interest is in the price point. I think it is too high...

So what is your point in time when all 2020s are gone that shows they priced perfectly?

The dealer in my area isn't doing mark-up pricing but I don't see why they couldn't try to mark up an order. That is why you put money down on it when you order ($500-$1000). If you pull out and they have to carry the loan on the vehicle while it sits on the lot, your down payment offsets that cost. So doing a mark-up on an order is double-shady behavior as they have no skin in the game (they don't carry much if any financial liability and they didn't have to do any work to sell it to you). Some states don't let them keep the deposit though, so its good to check local laws. Do the handshake on the final price along with the purchase order with pricing on it along with a receipt for your deposit.
