I'm sure that sounds like a nightmare. My sons just turned 110k he uses hot shot secret still has original pump no issues. I have heard of a few but honestly I'm a dealer and have heard of way more issues with the 2.0 and the 3.6 but they also made tons more of those. I understand guys have had issues just nobody I know personally. I wonder if it's just random pumps or certain build dates? I have a 21 and a 22 and my wife has a 22 my sons is a 22. I'm really surprised he hasn't had issues he drives hard had 37 and gears since day 1 switch to 40 about 6 months ago
Mines a 22 and 37's as well. Had no issues for 40k miles and took it on a lot of long distance trips with no issues. Got me through the western part of Canada when I spent 2 weeks up there solo. And then this year when it stalled again and the pump went out, it just snowballed and one thing after another thing. I have a case open with Jeep and starting the buyback process. And my goal is to get a new 23 diesel. Hopefully...

I am contemplating buying a leftover 2023 Rubicon Ecodiesel but with all the pump failures I am hesitant. I did find a company that makes a pump for the ram and states it will work for 2014-2022 ecodiesels. I emailed them to see if it is comparable for gladiators and waiting to hear. The pictures make it look compatable. If it does fit, I think I will pull the trigger on it. Here is their description post your thoughts:

2014-2024 RAM 1500 3.0L ECODIESEL CPX FUEL PUMP

The CP4 pump Bosch should have built, the CPX.
• Pinned lifter buckets to prevent rotation and stop failures. Even during a gel.
• New feed port, preventing any contaminated crankcase debris from entering the plungers and barrels. (Built in disaster prevention kit)
• Direct drop-in replacement, no aftermarket fuel lines or components needed.
• No additional labor or modifications to install.
• 24 Month no questions asked replacement warranty.

And just to point out, the whole “US diesel fuel doesn’t have enough lubricity for the CP4.” That’s a lie. I have disassembled, measured and under microscope, inspected pumps with over 500k miles with essentially zero wear.

The flaw was nothing to stop the roller lifter from rotating in a vacuum event. (Gel, filter change, low pressure feed issue.) This is why the LML Duramax pumps drop like flies. There is no lift pump to keep positive pressure on the plungers and barrels.
This allows a slop, or gap between the cam and the lifter roller. Which allows it to turn. Similar to a roller cam in a engine. When there is no lifter guide or link bar. The lifter rotates, destroying the cam and lifters and filling the engine with hardened metal filings. These filings, are what fills your fuel rails and injectors with debris, ruining them.
All 2011 - 2024 RCD CPX CP4 pumps are modified internally in a 5 AXIS CNC to return fuel to the tank. This prevents debris from entering the injector in the instance of a failure. "DISASTER KITS" ARE NOT NEEDED!

I am running this pump now. Did it myself in November, followed Stellantis (Jeep) recall procedure instructions. 5000 miles since swap, no issues with the pump, and from my research, all of the claims in the add (River City Diesel CPX) are valid. I will fess up if it ever fails. There is no newer or revised pump in production 23 Ecodiesel, and the recall pumps being installed (and still failing) are just original Chrysler Fiat Motor Co Jeep Stellantis original CP 4.2 Bosch High Pressure Fuel Pumps repackaged, using a "new" recall kit number. I welcome anyone with facts or proof to prove me wrong, in fact I dare anyone private owner, dealer, company reps...anyone to provide facts and specifics about the "new, redesigned, improved" HPFP. Again, far as I can tell, there is no such thing.

Awesome, thanks for the info! Glad to see it does work for the gladiators. Was it hard to put on?

Soon as I get some money saved up. I'm sending my old recall pump to them.

You should still regardless have the recall done properly through the dealer. (It's free anyway.) Otherwise it will still show an active recall on it which will result in other issues.

Depends on mechanical level of experience. The recall procedure instructions walk through replacing fuel lines to left and right side injector banks, and last fuel line which is a pump feed. The pump itself is a rebuilt, precision machined CP4.2 with the filtered (damage control) fuel return kit, (what Ford Super Duty guys have been installing for years, contains contamination if it does fail) and the retainers for the twin cam lifted plungers that pump the fuel are machined in and keep the plungers from rotating out of the buckets during a vacuum or fuel event so they don't clash with the cams and self destruct. This is a direct drop in replacement Bosch CP4.2 (modified per CPX). The biggest challenge is clocking the fuel pump to its correctly timed position when you remove and replace the original (see the procedure in the jeep recall service bulletin on this website). If you clock it correctly using a makeshift cardboard protractor wheel (available on line, at parts stores, sites or a free print out glue to cardboard and make it yourself) aligned as described, it will work. This is similar to timing an old points ignition distributor to get the fuel delivery in time with the cam, crank and each cylinder's fuel event. If you carefully pull the pump note the degree reference as in the service bulletin and install the same, it will be fine. If you are not careful you may have to do a fuel pump retiming procedure which is more CHALLENGING. If you do this kind of work on your own diesels, no problem. If not, maybe get a good diesel shop to do it for you. I am very happy with mine so far. I had multiple stalls, idle surging, codes like many on here po26, low fuel pressure warnings from about 6,000 miles. Parked it for 35 days, researched, tried to get dealer to work on it, do the recall and finally went this way on my own. I am happy with it so far. Good luck.

Too bad you couldn't take this one to the dealer and ask to have it installed to satisfy to recall.
Apparently the "new" pumps are like unicorns they're so hard to find. I'm still waiting on my dealer to call me after 4 months on the list...

I replaced the recall HPFP with an RCD CPX this past weekend. Although I had new fuel lines, the old ones are working fine with no leaks. I took plenty of pctures. It took me 4 hours, taking my time working slowly and methodically.

Here it is installed before the charge pipe and air filter going back in

Just on this forum alone Free2roam’swent out around 4,000 miles and Adventure_JTRD has had two failures. That’s off the top of my head. I also dabble in the ram forums and the 1500 eco is having the same thing over there.
Yes mine went out at 4581 +- miles. Waited 45 days for all the parts. Installed and ran for another 50+- miles with no issues. Had the recall done. No issues so far. Switched from Hot Shots EDT to XPD just recently. Maybe one tank so far. We'll see how it goes.

I'm happy to post a bit more. I followed the Stellantis procedure for the most part.

Some notes - If I were trying to be quick, I could probably finish in 2-2 1/2 hours. I was in no rush, so I took my time at 4 hours. The hardest part? Putting the stupid cover with the rubber insulation back on...tight spot and its a bit grumpy to get it together.

Special tools I used included the Mopar installation studs (~$70, could be replicated by cutting the heads off of 2 bolts the same thread/length - I can measure if anyone wants me to), and a small spanner wrench for installing the gear and clocking it. Pictures below. Instructions called for a degree wheel, but I didn't use it (to mark the gear position when removing the old pump).

The procedures say the high pressure fuel lines to the heads are not re-useable, so I bought a set along with an extra o-ring for the pump (RCD sends one on it). Those parts cost me about $150 with shipping and I didn't use any.

The lines are stainless steel with a bubble flare. If they leaked, I was prepared to change them. The fittings are visible with the cover installed.

Its tight in here, but removing the air box and the charge pipe gives enough room. The charge pipe has a metal ring on the top connection. I removed the bottom clamp first, pulled the rubber hose up and rotated it so I could get to both ends with a screwdriver to release it.

Old pump with the cover removed, top lines disconnected. Just need to disconnect the high pressure lines and then its ready to pull off. Once the 3 mount bolts were removed, there is a little room to gently pry it off the engine.

You can see the Mopar installation tools here - just studs that screw into the top 2 mount bolt locations. I only put them in finger tight. I'm sure they line up the gear for installation. Putting the new pump on took a little wiggling. I lubed the oring with a little engine oil to help. You can also see the bubble flares on the high pressure lines in this pic

Time to swap the gear from the old pump to the new. Instructions say to torque to 37 ft-lbs. I had to use a short extension (pipe) on the wrench to hold the gear while torquing it.
