My wife has weighed in already, “I told you so!” She seemed to like my new Gladiator 11 months ago when I bought it, she really enjoyed driving the back roads with me with the tops and doors off. She was even sympathetic at first when I called to tell her the gladiator was broken down and I wasn’t sure if I could get home. But after much trial and error I found that if I disconnected BOTH batteries I could clear enough faults to limp home. So it sat in our driveway for several days with batteries disconnected until the service dept could get it in. It wasn’t until I told her that service said it will take 3 weeks to get the valve body in that she started in with “I told you so!” She remembers the only other American vehicle I ever bought, 25 years ago when we were first married. After that experience I swore I’d never buy another American vehicle. But when I saw the Gladiator last year it reminded me of my grandfather’s Willys truck and we test drove the gladiator. Now my wife tells me that when and if they get it repaired I am to sell it immediately, take my losses and buy a Tacoma or something similar. The dealer won’t even give me a loaner so I’m going to be probably a month without my truck, which usually I drive every day. I even called my salesman from dealer thinking he might value customer satisfaction and repeat customers. I told him that there must be a part available somewhere, probably in Kokomo which is only 50 miles from here, even if it needs to come out of a new transmission. I said he could make calls, tell them - Hey! This is my customer! Jeep doesn’t treat customers this way! I want that valve body ASAP!
Sorry Charlie, not gonna happen. He was peeved because I woke him up in bed at 9:30 AM.

I needed a valve body in my transmission, too. It also took ~3 weeks to get, but at least they rented a Cherokee for me.

I'd buy a $1000 beater to drive for a month rather than rent if I heard that because 4 weeks becomes 5...6 etc.

If you really like the gladiator like I do mine which is problem free at this point with 18 thousand miles I would just get rid of the wife you can get another one of them maybe even a younger one just my thoughts

If it's a warranty repair I'd call up Jeep Cares/Customer support because they are supposed to give you a vehicle during covered repairs. I think... maybe that was my Kia dealer, anyone else weigh in on this?

First of all, tell your wife it's YOUR truck and she can get a pastel Prius if she wants.

With that said, EVERY vehicle manufacturer has issues with new vehicles. Not just "American" made.

Also, odds are her favorite Toyota, Honda, or Subaru is made here in "America".

I'd be checking into the free loaner vehicle. Don't know which dealer in Indiana you bought from or took it to, but I believe the loaner is covered in the warranty.

These words in bold jump out. Is this a marriage or an employer?

Yeah, maybe it's how you wrote it and not how she said it but even if it's just how you expressed it, ask yourself WHY you did so?

SO MANY guys talk about getting "permission" from their wives. That's just wrong. Take it from someone who got divorced from his high school sweetheart after 20 years. Non stop backing up, putting up, shutting up is NOT the way for a marriage to work and last.

If you are nervous to say something about this that tells you all you need to know right there.

Get your balls back off the mantle that your wife put in a Mason Jar 25 years ago and stop listening to her.

Two things wrong here. Let’s start with the obvious one…

1 ) The dealer needs to give you a loaner vehicle period. If it’s warranty work, then you’re entitled to a loaner vehicle regardless of what FCA/Stellantis dealer it’s being serviced at.

2) I don’t know how serious your wife is about selling it, but unless the vehicle is a big financial burden for you guys or it’s a danger to y’all’s well-being, she has no right to make you get rid of it. If you like it, then keep it. This is assuming you guys have your own cars and don’t share this one. If y’all share it, then it’s definitely worth a listen and discussion.

Unless one has bought an extended MOPAR warranty with rental reimbursement language in it, the basic warranty either bumper to bumper or drivetrain warranty does not have language in it conferring a absolute right to a rental for warranty work.

Well the service guy I dealt with when my Charger’s lifters collapsed must’ve been completely misinformed because that’s exactly what he told me when they had my car for 3 weeks. It was bought used at a different dealership too.

That sucks that OP is having a shit experience with his dealer.

The Jeep wave program does indicate loaner etc. I’ve never taken one of ours in and not gotten a rental. Even for normal service they give me another gladiator or wrangler.
