I believe hybrid technology is too complex to ever be an 'add-on' option.
For my wish list I'd like a twin-Turbo straight 6 + hybrid & battery-only range of about 100 miles. My driving needs are too much to lean on a 4 cyl engine.
I watched a video this past weekend about battery technology, if they are right maybe 5 years from now the solid-state batteries will be a thing & it might be possible then.
Actually, they said for EVs, that tech could allow 400K mile battery life, then you would need a way to pull the battery out of one vehicle & put it into a new one. That would be much better than what we have now.

I'm curious what you propose a "bolt on hybrid kit" would consist of?
Are you thinking something like the mild hybrid system the JL's have?
To me that's the way this makes the most sense, for the following reasons:
- the engine already has used the system elsewhere so we know that integration works
- the system consists mostly of extras added to the front and top of the engine without needing to rip the entire thing apart
- this engine has its power high in the RPM range and could use some bottom-end torque, which is what this kind of system provides
- this system could (theoretically) be sized to flatten the torque curve without actually increasing the peak torque and HP outputs beyond the listed capacities of the downstream drivetrain components
- this system would be compatible with both the manual and auto trannies

I'd do it.
