I need a little clarity because someone told me yesterday all I needed was the brackets I have. I am about to install one of these skids on my JT sport and want to make sure I got everything. Pictures included if what mine looks like with the plastic skid removed, also do i need to remove the black aluminum piece behind the plastic skid. Thanks for any help

Do you have 4 brackets? If not, looks like you are missing rivnuts, 2 brackets, and more bolts for the other brackets.

No. You need top and bottom brackets, nuts and revnuts.

Just curious if these rivnuts will work or do I need the Mopar ones.

I would suggest using the mopar ones. The ones you linked to on amazon look pretty flimsy compared to the meaty ones that you can purchase from mopar.

And yes, you definitely need to take off that aluminum plate under the original bumper.

The holes and rivnuts for this job are actually Hex shaped, so those ones from Amazon wouldn't work I believe. The hex rivnuts make it super simple to install though - I was able to just use the bolt and a washer to tighten the rivnut until it was fully set, then back out and install the brackets.

I'm thinking about just getting a bolt and putting and nut and washer on the back of it and installing the brackets that way. I was able to bolt the two I have on that way and then all I will need is the other two brackets. I was able to get everything other than the brackets from Lowe's for $5. That's if I decide to install it.

Unfortunately the bottom leg of the "L" clip that mounts to the new skid covers the access hole on the bottom of the frame horn, so you won't be able to get access to the inside wall of the horn tube to install a normal nut. It's super easy to just buy the hex nuts from the dealership or some online mopar store, I also installed the hex nut with just a bolt and it worked super easy.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to install it or not. I did find out after buying bolts that it wouldn't work. If I do decide I'll get the hex nuts. I appreciate you letting me know though.

This thread turned out very helpful today. I was able to use it for reference and get my plate installed along with the bumper. Thank you to everyone who participated!

I need to install mine. Where did you source all the bolts and stuff or did you get everything with the skid.

Got all the bolts and two of the brackets from morris 4x4. The two upper brackets (red boxed ones from page one of thread) came with another skid i got a while back. Kinda worked out.

The links on page one should be pretty much all you need
