Hi folks.
Last week we finally had a chance to go to our two local dealers and test drive a Rubicon. Of course both dealers wanted to sell the truck they had on the lot that day but I told them that I wanted to order a Sting Grey when the order banks opened up.
They both also said that they were selling at MSRP but would be glad to quote my spec sheet...I told them that I already had a dealer that was quoting below invoice ( I didn’t want to get too specific) and they, predictably said that that was not possible.

Anyway one of the guys has called both of us about 10 times today telling us that he had the order ready to be placed (keep in mind that you can’t order a Sting Grey yet) and for me to just drop by and sign the papers...

I finally emailed him reminding him that I wanted a written bid and he never provided one and that he just said they sell at MSRP and that I was able to do much better than that....

He emailed and called me again that they would meet anyone’s quoted price...

I own a small company and when I bid a project it involves a considerable amount of time. I’m not about to give my business to someone who agrees to match a price that someone else took the time to work up.

I sent my deposit to Travis today!

I am purchasing from a local dealer who isn't as strong on discounts as the fly-n-drive dealers, but is doing me right on my sold order price. My dealer has been direct about pricing, and accommodating with test drives and questions/build options. After factoring in the cost of travel and return trip for out of state purchase, my own time spend on the transaction, etc., I'd do better than my current deal, but not by much. I'd rather keep the difference in my local economy supporting the folks who have worked with me to this point, and reward a dealership that's doing right by customers even if they aren't the ultimate lowest price in the country.

Having said all of that, if I were left to work with a dealer such as you have described, I'd be booking airfare to buy out of state as well.

Fortunately for me Tri City is just about 1 1/2 hours away and on the way to my son’s house..win win.

Here in SoCal they won’t even place the order for me for fear they can’t sell a soft top Jeep. Ridiculous. I’m really glad I ordered with Travis. Not only do I get what I want and save a bunch of money, but I get to support a guy who supports this user community well. Happy to pay the shipping costs and not deal with greedy dealer.

That's what I said!
And he's like, well, I just don't know if we're going to be able to sell them because all the wranglers we sell are hardtops. He did say the Gladiator might be different but he's not willing to place the order for me and take the risk. SMH. This is the shit I have to deal with in this f-ing state.

Sounds like a good place for a meet up!
If your truck comes in the same time as mine I’ll gladly pick you up at the Greensboro airport!

Sounds like Faricy Boys. They offered me 3% off my order. I told them to call me back when the order banks open for Blue or Gator Green.

Not surprising dude....cool folks should leave...after that hope the PRC breaks off and falls in...

There are a couple of dealers a whole lot closer than the other coast offering deals - take a look at the sponsors section and the ordering, pricing section
