I bought a disable harness, im waiting for warmer weather to install it.

Do the dealers like finding them under the dash?

Here's the response if they say ANYTHING unrelated to an electrical issue:

"Did I come in for an issue related to the Auto-Start-Stop system? No I didn't. Does the ASS/ESS system relate to the issue I came in for, if so, HOW?" This type of question makes the dealer/shop put their foot in their mouth EVERY TIME!

It's on the dealer to PROVE your mod DIRECTLY caused the issue you have. Legally.

We took my grandmother's equinox to the dealer a few times for simple things (nothing warranty/excessive) and they've never said anything about the ESS bypass cable under the hood. Just keep it tied away from other parts/systems so it doesn't rub/cause issues overtime. Bad mounting can wear through wires and cause a failure down the road with no warning.

I've brought my stroked subaru to the dealer for things like a new wheel bearing (for warranty) and they honor their warranty if needed (only once, defective bearing). They saw the Accessport, heard the 3" TBE exhaust (turbo spooling at idle), and when they drive it...they know it's modded OUT! Still no issues, because I don't expect them to cover an powertrain related part with my mods.

Yes it does. It 100% does. Mine went from being functional to no longer being functional after I made the changes.
It doesn't. If disconnecting your aux battery disabled your's, it's probably because the system doesn't think your main battery is up to the task. ESS still works with just the main battery.

If you would go to the ESS page you most likely would see the reason why your ESS didn't work.

Show of hands please, how many of us would pay for a subscription to have the ESS disabled? Would you do it if it was a small nominal fee added to what we already pay?

(Stellantis, you can send me a royalty cheque each year for that one)

Retired. Beach bum.
My wife and went for a Saturday drive, about 6 or 7 hours worth. First time I've taken my Freedom out for an extended run since I took ownership last November/December.

Every time we stopped at a light, the Auto Stop would shut the engine down. I'd say, "I HATE this crap !!" and hit the bypass button. Only to do it again when I restart the vehicle with me bitching about it.

After a bit, she calmly says, "Let me get this straight. You hit a button on your remote to start the Jeep. You hit a button on the remote to unlock the Jeep. You get inside and hit a button on the dash to be able to drive the Jeep. You hit several buttons to get to your favorite radio station. But hitting just ONE MORE button to disable the Auto Stop is "too much" ?!?! THAT'S the straw that broke the camels back ??. You do know that makes no sense, right ?? Do all the button pushing to get going, and when you put it in gear, hit the Auto Stop kill button. Where's the issue ??".

I said "If you're going to come at me with irrefutable logic, well, there's no talking to you.".
I just set my temp controller to a temp that’s unattainable if the engine is allowed to continue start/stop, that In effect cancels the system all the time, unless the temp reaches what you set. Says so right in the owners manual. Sound to me like your wife should be in control of the finances.

My 2025 RX350 has ESS and i prefer it to how my 2021 JT ESS is set up.

My rx gives me a prompt to 'press the brake pedal for Start/Stop'. I do like having it pressure sensitive vs. having a button. If i do not press harder, the ESS does not engage.

What?! Where!?
In the radio settings, iirc under Comfort and Convenience but I could be wrong. The Tazer also allows to enable the passenger heater too.

Thats just stupid. I wouldnt even pay a penny for that. There are tons of ways to disable it for free or with a device that you pay once for. Paying a monthly fee to have it disabled is just idiotic.

Retired. Finally !!

She is. 100% and I freely admit that without concern. And I don't feel like that's a ding on my Man Card in the slightest. I'm retired bringing in zero dollars until I start collecting Social Security. She retired from oil and gas after 38 years (accounting...so she's good at managing our money) and she got a fat pension, 401k, etc., invested it well during her tenure, AND went and got another job (she's only 57, didn't want to retire) with another pension, 401k, etc.... She told me to retire, she was tired of me working days and nights for chump change with no bennies. I am 100% healthy and she wanted me to be that way for when SHE decides to retire so we can do things. Like I said in my first post, it's hard to deny her logic.

I am not a believer in the man has to be the breadwinner. I'm a believer in the one that brings in the most to the table is the breadwinner. The one that handles money the best, does it. That's her. I have no shame in admitting that, my ego ain't that large, the 1940's "Man of the House" attitude was a long time ago. To espouse that I have to control everything because I'm "The Man" is myopic.

Works for us and we've been happily married 35 years this April, together 38 years.

Your mileage may vary.
