I have seen several posts of interrupt solenoids mounted but curious if folks can share a few more

Conundrum is I have the genesis system so space underhood is a premium. I also have 2 winches so either need to use 2 solenoids or just use one for both. Obviously they wont be used at the same time.

So far the only viable option I have come up with is attaching to the two cowl bolts that hold down the plastic wire harness tray above the power distribution box. But that would require fabrication of at least bending aluminum which I am not sure I can do - unless someone here wants to make a deal……

You are referring to this area?
If so - perhaps aluminum angle?

Yes sorry shoulda added a photo. I'm thinking of bolting to these two bolts.

Agreed I think a 8" piece or so of 2" angle alum would work great in that spot. Funny though I have had a hard time finding any! 1" or 1.5" all day, but 2" seems to only be in blocks. I have one more place to check out in town but so far haven't found any. I'm sure theres some company out there that would mail me some.

I would much prefer the location you have yours in - but having the genesis system that spot is pretty occupied and tight. But I will look again this evening to be sure.

I made this out of angle and mounted it in the area you're referring too on the wire tray. Also added my remote battery terminal strips to it. I should have taken more time to bend it to follow the profile of the engine bay but as usual I was up against a time crunch. At least it's powder coated to match.

Somewhat similar to what ShadowsPapa did.
I had this Trigger Controller under hood mount that I wasn’t using so I mounted my isolator and a terminal strip for my Aux switch wires.

You can always trim larger angle down. If you need 1.5" but can only find 2", I run it through my band saw, file and smooth it. Of course you need a band saw........... so I guess that doesn't always work.

I added the spot for my snow plow fuse by riveting a piece of smaller angle to the first so the fuse could be above the solenoid.

pretty much exactly what i was going for. Is that 2” angle?? Looks like with the genesis tray my PDB sits lower so maybe fuses could be accessed without removing the solenoid

Yeah. I do like this general location best but not sure if i can make one, or even 2, fit. It seems like the actuator part of the solenoid would come in contact with the underside of the hood when closed

This is what I did. I bought the plate from the lumber section at Lowe's, modified it with a drill, and painted it black.

Hmm. I like this. Do you have any contact between the bottom of the solenoid and hood?? i dont think my solenoids have room to be that close to the battery. They would have to scooch back maybe half an inch.

and where did you all get those power covers? I havent found ones I like yet.

I do have some 1.25” angle. And using a measure I need a 2x2” angle. I do have a nice reciprocating saw and have been successful cutting alum blocks and smaller angle with the help of some WD40. but finding some 2x2 is challenging. Although I like more and more what @Mr Bill has done. And have some flat aluminum that I could probably cut and drill. The question is if it will fit without hood contact.

The one on the left, I bought them from Amazon. The one on the right, they came with it.

There's a fair amount of room under there. I cracked the hood and looked with a light to make sure I had clearance. Use a flat bar from the cowl to the air cleaner piece and you can get a good idea of how much room you have to work with.

EDIT: It took a little effort, but I got it to post the links for the two different sizes.

I'm pretty sure that is 1-1/2" angle. I'll have to verify when I get home.

So I ended up just cutting a piece of aluminum I had lying around to see how it fits. And it fits good. Making some measurements with a 3.5x6 inch piece of alum I should be able to fit two side by side. one for the front winch and one for the rear. I can probably get away with one main wire to the battery and then a jumper from one solenoid to the other.

so now I just need to decide what gague wore to use. The wire on the quadratec winch looks like 1 ga. The wire for the superwinch looks like 2ga. Warn has a 20’ winch extension cable with anderson connectors that is only 2 ga. I would have expected 1/O. So I think I can get away with 2 ga safely and just be mindful of long hard rearward pulls. Plus 2 ga is readily available at the napa in town so they can make me custom cables easily enough.

Oh and I also made another short harness to plug into the factory underhood aux 3 and 4 so it is easy to disconnect if necessary.

I fabbed up a bracket for a Bluesea 6006 from scrap aluminum, and used the two bolts referred to earlier. (This one’s a diesel so there’s a battery where you have a fuse box)
Nicely done - I like that.
