Where do you think it is split?Did the tech show you where the boot was split?
My CV boots look just like the ones in the picture.

My guess would be on the small end. Either on the ridge, or center of the valley. I've seen both places.Where do you think it is split?

Are you positive you didnât remove the axle shaft on a slight downhill angle? The diff fluid passively sits on the other side of the axle seal. When I pulled my shaft on the passenger side, due to how I was parked on the driveway, I lost a few ounces of fluid, if not 6. Once it was back together, it kept looking like a leak, but it was just more fluid that got past the seal before the shaft got reinstalled. It stopped pretty quickly. I was so sure Iâd killed a shaft seal that I purchased the tools to replace the seal. Those tools are still in the box. Oops.Definately not a.split CV boot...its 100% leaking diff oil.

Finally, in the earlier images I took of this leak, the axle assembly hadn't yet been pulled...so it shouldn't be leaking in that case.
Oh, I've chased down an Australian axle seal for this. Doubleblackoffroad have sourced one for me within 30mins of my calling them. I'm more than happy to pay a premium for that kind of service...Bill (the owner) has been fantastic.
If it was just running out due to car being on a lean, it (the shaft itself) wouldn't look like it does in the images unless it had been pulled a number of times and never had the oil cleaned off.
That's been the case with Jeeps since the 1970s or so. Even my Eagle has a FAD (Front Axle Disconnect)ah hang on...i didnt realize that these diffs use an electric axle lock on the rhs of the axle tube in place of hub locks
I'd have to disagree about no FAD with SelecTrac. My 2021 JTR with the Full time auto option certainly has a FAD. It's definitely not blocked off. Just verified that while doing my oil change. Can spin the front driveshaft with both front tires on the ground. I believe the FAD shifts when you shift to 4H Auto.No FAD with the SelecTrac automatic transfer case, though............It's blocked off because a FAD just won't work with the auto transfer case.

I can confirm this. I have 4hi auto, and absolutely have a functional fad. I even have RCV shafts with a two piece passenger side and a stronger collar. Youâre referring to the passenger side front if youâre talking fad, correct? And outer shaft? Iâve had my outer shaft out and in, and my impression was that thereâs an axle seal just outside of the fad, but I wasnât aware of a bearing other than the unit bearing at the hub. Am I missing something?Anyone got images or video of how they remove the intermediate shaft outer bearing?
Mine has collapsed and is in pieces...all the balls have fallen out (were sitting in the FAD housing) and the inner ring is on the shaft...i have not yet seen the outer bearing ring...it must be still inside the axle tube.
