Just had to check. There are a lot of idiots out there. You shouldn't have ended your post with a question. That indicates you are expecting a response.
Fair enough

You're correct about there being a lot of idiots out there

I was a bit harsh in my response

My apologies

"Worth" is a relative term to each individual and is usually not a consensus thing.

Do I find value from it? No.

Do I use it? No.

I do not like the idea of all the electrical systems intertwined and if something simple happens at one point, it shuts down vital other systems.

I honestly don't see the big issue with the stop/start. Yes, I found it annoying at first but the bypass switch is very close to the on/off button. When you start your Jeep, press both. That's it. It's just one button. It's not like resetting your fuel or oil change buttons where you have to scroll through several screens. It's just one button to press. That's all!

I'm new to my Gladiator, so not sure I have an opinion on it either way as it applies to benefits. My Silverado didn't have it so no need to even consider the pros/cons. Having said that, I'm quickly becoming annoyed by needing to remember to turn it off. It's gets hot down here in Florida and the second that ac compressor kicks off because the AS engaged I'm reminded of the button. I will say this thread has been timely because I'm not looking for best solution to turn it off full time.
Reduce pressure on the brake pedal, and the Jeep won't shut off.

I actually like the auto start feature. I think on the 6 speed, its not annoying at all other than changing my driving habit from sitting at a light in 1st with the clutch in vs. in neutral. By the time I put it in gear, the engine is running and everything works great. And being a cheap guy, I almost crack a smile knowing I'm not burning any fuel while stopped. I think on an auto it would be annoying though.

My problem is, the auto start feature rarely works when you want it. It always seems to have an excuse, e.g. "Cabin Heating or Cooling" etc. Where I would love this is long lineups, bad traffic etc, but its never working then. It seems to activate only when I'm driving at night and the traffic lights are all under a minute anyways.

Gives me the impression that Jeep engineers did the legal bare minimum on this one rather than try to make it a feature drivers would actually value.

Imagine if the windshield wipers came on every time you started your Jeep or you had to readjust the seat every time you got in. And imagine it didn't have to be that way but was designed to be that way on purpose. It is that kind of annoyance.

I wouldn't know. I got a manual.
We saw a manual that really interest me, but the massively reduced towing capacity and the fact that my wife is not comfortable driving a manual turned us away. Besides it was 6 hours away in Pennsylvania and we found a better deal half an hour away.

Fair points. But keep in mind, wife not driving may be a plus to some. Also, i remember something about the drop in tow capacity being based on some overly conservative concerns about the manual transmission.

Today I installed a Tazer to

1) Remember for me that I hate auto-start-stop and turn it off automatically every time I start the engine.
2) Turn off the license plate lights in reverse so I can see better through the camera when backing up at night
3) Allow me to use the rear locker in 4H without having to remember and perform a series of button presses
4) Allow me to use the front locker in 4H

It has a lot of features I may never need. JScan can make a lot of the vehicle setting changes (TPMS, tire size, gearing, etc.), and I already did some of those. The features listed above are "live" so it has to be plugged in at all times but they don't require it be married, so I didn't marry it up.

@Badunit

So, you are saying your Tazer JL is not married... Ya sure about that.. re-think this... and read the Tazer JL instructions over carefully..

If you research where the idea of Auto stop/start came from, It was made for urban vehicles in congested traffic. It was only supposedly to be used in conjunction with a hybrid. It's like when they put wings on older cars but they really only needed downforce at 130-140 mph. Most of those cars had limiters set at 126mph.

As others have mentioned: My wife and I start our late model cars pushing 2 buttons. The Start button, then wait a couple seconds and then the damn Start/Stop button.

The fact that this Start/Stop is law, is evidence of how deep the GW religion has infiltrated common sense. The GW priests made it law, costing the normal person to spend more on 2nd batteries and tired starters and additional electronics. All to worship the earth god.

Hopefully, Common sense is coming back.
If you are stopped in traffic with no movement in sight. Shut off the engine. It is common sense. We don't need big brother forcing their world god on us.

Be well. Jeep on, until they outlaw them.
