"641 owners are now being told to stop driving. The issue affects Wranglers and Gladiators built between November 10 and November 16, 2025, equipped with a specific steel wheel supplied by Maxion Wheels."

Author Stephen Rivers has a juicy story to tell his MSN bosses: hey guys, boy do I have a hot one. All Jeep owners are f*cked. Again. All you say? Well Wrangler and Gladiator owners. Wow, that's still hundreds of thousands of owners. Well, just those with base models and steel wheels. Okay. By a specific manufacturer. Uh huh. During a 6-day period. Um, how many people are we talking about here? Sixx hunnndred and fortyyy-onne.

Run it!

What? Stellantis isn’t Fiat. FCA had way better quality control btw.
Well it kind of is, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and French PSA Group got together and had a baby called Stellantis which owns FIAT and the other 13 brands both parents used to own.

Unfortunately it seems to have been dropped on its head a few times as an infant.

Fiat;
Fix it again today...
Fix it again tomorrow...

My first car was a Fiat 124 coupe. It felt like very time I fixed something, something else broke. When funds were tight I pause on fixing things, and funny enough things stopped breaking as if they were waiting on the other items to get repaired first. Fun little car. Drove the piss out of it.

And even better still, not one single reported actual failure or complaint associated to this.

Chicken Little has once again decreed that the sky is falling, everybody be sure to panic accordingly.

Then how are recalls issued?

I take it you didn't even bother to read the article you linked to... :facepalm:

"If the wheel develops a crack and eventually separates, the driver could suddenly lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. FCA notes there are no warning signs that the wheel could be about to fail. As of June 24, 2026, the company said it had received no warranty claims, customer assistance reports, field reports, crashes, or injuries related to the defect in any market."

"Despite that, and to Jeep’s credit, FCA’s Vehicle Regulations Committee determined on July 9, 2026, that the condition constitutes a safety defect requiring a recall. The remedy is straightforward. Dealers will inspect the steel wheel and replace it if necessary. Interestingly, FCA will also replace the valve stem as part of the repair."

I read it, the notes attached to the article as well, a manufacturing defect was noted. Changes were made, and the general public was informed of the issue, and corrective actions were taken to avoid potential litigation .......................

An Den?

Not sure what the point of your question was then.
