Talk about soaking the consumer. The take rate on slush boxes much to my chagrin is pathetic here in Estados Unidos but this just smacks a Carlos Tavares-style profit boost. Congrats, STLA, you've just gotten an extra $4500 on 90% of the vehicles sold. Winning?

Despite bringing the option back, Jeep is going to make you pay dearly for the option to not shift your own gears: the company says the eight-speed automatic will be a $4,500 option. If you really just have to have an automatic, want the V6 and can swallow that price, Jeep says the 2025 Wrangler is available to order now.

Lol this is exactly what I was saying in the "tell Stellantis" thread. Nothing they can do will ever be okay with the hardcore niche.

You know who doesn't want to manually shift transmission? Almost everyone. A V6/auto option will probably appeal to regular people.

Also hard to believe is they are charging $4,500 for it.

Maybe they'll offer a $4,500 rebate. Then it all makes sense.

As someone who loves manual transmissions, Jeep's manuals are garbage. There's just so much to hate with them, before you talk about reliability of the parts.

All my jeeps were manual transmissions, and I loved them. In fact the only reason I got an auto JT is because there weren't any used manuals around here for sale. If I'm going to be stuck with an automatic then it needs to have 400 hp otherwise it's boring. But I can have fun screaming an inline 4cyl with a manual......shifting gives me something to do I guess. I know nowadays people would rather have automatics so they can text while driving and run motorcycles off the road. I think people underestimate how many old timers enjoy shifting. I guarantee you it's more than "almost no one." My wife's JK is a 6 speed, she considers it theft prevention.

Since they're literally clogging up lots everywhere, this won't affect anyone except the random people who just absolutely have to custom order their perfectest mass produced Jeep.

Everyone else will have it knocked off the price after it sits for 18 months.
